Promoting a Kindle Book

I just wrote my first Kindle Book and am going to put it up in the morning after my husband gives it another pass through proofreading. I know that a lot of people say that with a kindle book you can "set and forget" and wait for it to sell. I assume that promoting it would be a good idea though, right?

I already plan on posting about it on my blog and having one of my guest writers review it for my website for work at home moms... but what are some other ways to promote it?

I'd like to know the answer, too. My Kindle version outsells my e-junkie version 2 to 1 and I don't do anything for the Kindle version, which is not as pretty *lol*

    Hi Amanda,

    Here's a few ideas:

I recommend giving your book a "push" or two on the biggest blogs. You can email the owner of the blog and request a review:

Free & Bargain Kindle Books | Pixel of Ink

Free Kindle Books, Kindle Tips, News & Commentary | Kindle Nation Daily |

If you don't get reviewed, you can pay to be featured on these blogs. With enough "pushes" you can convince the Amazon algorithm that your book deserves to be recommended to a whole bunch of customers.

Another way to push is the good ole press release:

Press Release Distribution Services - WebWire

By the way, what genre is your book in?

I figure it should do okay since when I search for the subject there is only one other book that shows up and it comes from a different angle, but I figure by promoting it I can find customers that don't realize they want the book until they hear about it or do not currently use Kindle books.

Thank you for those tips, they will help.

My book is about time management and is targeted towards stay at home moms.

      Amanda,
I believe the answers you seek lie in Paul's sig file.

I reviewed that book last year and it knocked my socks off.

I sure will. I have been writing down my whole process and plan to write up my whole process from start to finish and share my method and results with WF.

I always promote mine a bit on Facebook. Kindle can be a little odd to figure out what sells and what doesn't. IM doesn't sell well at all. You're smart to have your husband proof read. I have a difficult time proofing my own work. I have a tendency to overlook the same mistakes over and over.

    1. Create a physical version of your book through createspace and price it very high
    2. Create a downloadable pdf version of your book and price it very high
    3. Price your kindle book at whatever price you (I think maybe $10 is the max) you want to sell it at

Put all three options in the sidebar of your blog(s) and sites.

Write blog posts for 5 days describing the best benefits of your book, reader reviews, etc.

People will buy the kindle version.

Thanks for the suggestions. Took me a while to decide if I was going to put it up for Kindle or market it myself... I think Kindle will be the better choice since it has a higher chance of selling with no promoting...
