CDC Warns of ZOMBIE APOCALYPES

Does the CDC know something we don't? Why are they publishing an article on how to prepare for a Zombie Apocalypse? NO LIE

CDC EPR | Social Media | Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse - Blog

What does this mean to you as a marketer?

One of the things I did early on was to invest the time into developing a Natural Disaster based product site. Survival goods and books, etc.

I don't spend a lot of time dealing with it, it's mostly affiliate stuff, but I have it highly SEO'd and does well in the SERPs so about two to three times a year I get a nice little boost in my sales.

You might think that it is immoral to profit form someone else's loss, but most of it is information and supplies. So it's not like I am the cause of the disaster.

How do you take advantage of naturally recurring events like holidays and such?

Actually, I hadn't thought about it at all until last Halloween when I ran across a site for, you guessed it, Halloween costumes. And it was like a light bulb went off; couldn't believe I hadn't thought of it before. Obviously, holiday sites won't make huge bank all year long, but that's okay as long as they make good money for a few months out of the year.

I definitely plan on rectifying that sometime this year, though, by putting up a site for every major holiday (and even some of the not-so-major ones, too).

As you said, "I don't spend a lot of time dealing with it, [and] about two to three times a year I get a nice little boost in my sales."

This is nonsense. You'll never have to worry about zombies. The world ends tomorrow anyway.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Zombies? You mean those things that rarely ever sleep, never give up, and have a sole focus on getting "more brains?

I think they all became internet marketers, except they focus now on "more sales".

As long as they have money for food we will have little to worry about.

No offense to any Warrior Zombies lurking.

I have been saying it for years. Zombie's very well could already exist for all we know. Why would our governments tell us about it though? It's not a problem.

Think about it. The government didn't warn about H1N1 until it was a pandemic.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

Who needs to bone up on marketing with the Zombies and world ending and stuff. We should just go out and party one last time.

It's a great marketing ploy to get people to half-seriously buy a EP kit and prepare for something real.

    Very clever!

I thought it was pretty good on the CDC's part as well. You don't think of Gov't bureaucrats as having a decent sense of humor, much less a decent marketing department. But here I think we are showing it as an example of a WIN.
