Why don't PLR sellers let you sell their stuff on eBay?

I understand that most sellers don't want their products devalued by people selling them on ebay for $0.01, but I sell lots of info products for good prices on eBay, and there are so many PLR packs I see that I would love to have access to sell. As a rule, I don't sell my info products in auction format, only buy it now, and I set decent prices.

Any PLR sellers who have good quality niche products, I would love to hear from you if you are willing to offer me products to sell on ebay with perhaps minimum pricing terms.

We were of the opinion Ebay banned the sale of digital products. Has this changed?

No, this is still the rule, however I burn the ebooks onto CD and sell them as a physical product.

There is one thing I would like to add about the eBay digital product rule. You can still sell them you just have too many restrictions.
1 Your item can only be listed in the information products category (You get very little exposure)
2 It has to be sold in "classified" format (does not get national or international exposure) where your item will probably get lost in the hundreds of wholesale lists
3 You don't receive feedback to build your eBay reputation

        http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/downloadable.html

Just to get back on the original topic my thoughts are that another possible reason people might not want you to sell their PLR on eBay might be that it would create additional competition for them if they chose to sell their items on eBay via cd or DVD,

This is what eBay officially says about digital products
      Digitally delivered goods policy

You can list most digitally delivered goods on eBay as long as you follow these guidelines:
You need to list your item only in the Everything Else > Information Products category using only the Classified Ad format.
Your listing clearly states that you legally own the content (sometimes called intellectual property) or are authorized to sell it by the owner, the owner’s authorized agent, or the law.
Your items can't have any sexually-oriented adult (pornographic) content. For more details, see our Adult Only category policy.
Your item can't include software that would damage anyone's computer, could be used for malicious purposes like sending spam emails or spreading a computer virus, or would violate anyone's privacy (spyware or cookies, for example). For more details, see our HTML and JavaScript policy.
You have to be verified on PayPal to help confirm your identity.
In addition to meeting the guidelines of this policy, listings for all informational products also need to meet the requirements of our compilation and informational items policy.

I suppose the issue with sending PLR on CD is that many computers, tablets, netbooks don't have a CD drive these days. And I can see them vanishing altogether in 5 years.

I think it has been banned, but many people still sell products that are digital only.....

What I have seen is that they deliver them via a link, inside of a PDF....

Not sure how they are getting around the rules, but I have bought lots of digital only products recently on ebay.

As for the OP question, its bad enough that those who sell PLR have affiliates who sell for way less than they should, let alone allowing them to sell on ebay as an auction.

Now if sold as a buy it now ONLY, with no auction and if sold at the correct pricing level, I do not see why they do not allow it.

This is what I am wanting to do, I have no interest in selling things that are going to cost me more in listing fees than profit. I have a few good quality items that I have permission to sell on ebay, between $10 and $20, and I think having a tangible product such as a CD, increases the value in the mind of the buyer.

    Hi Cat Mother

Have you calculated the burning, packaging & postage cost from Aus to the US for CDs? That's using the US as a large market for your product.

      Hi Neil

yes, I charge actual cost postage and packaging for shipping on top of the sales price. eBay and paypal fees total around 10% of my sales price, so I make sure I charge enough to make a decent profit after fees are deducted
Don't make enough to retire yet, but I am looking for great products with a high perceived value, to help me get there quicker

To go back to your original question - some seller do allow you to resell PLR purchased from them.

Here's the thing about PLR - the more it's sold and resold, the less useful and valuable the product is.

Also, some seller prohibit reselling PLR you purchase from them - no matter where you want to resell it. This protects other buyers of the PLR from having the product resold numerous times. This is especially true of seller who limit the quantity sold for each of their PLR packages.

So the answer is to buy only from those sellers who allow resale - but realize you are buying a product that will quickly be devalued. Or maybe the answer is to write your own PLR products to sell on ebay.

      Hi Kay

would love to write my own products, but don't have the time (or possibly the talent ) I have seen so many fantastic looking guides out there and would love to get my hands on them to sell, even willing to sell as is with the author's affiliate links in some cases, just to be able to offer great products to my customers.

    Hi Kay,

We always advise buyers that they should check the licence of any product before purchasing it. Good sites usually provide this facility.

I was looking on eBay earlier for digital products and the vendors, but I could only find physical products. Is there any link I can follow that would lead me to what you all are talking about?

eBay banned the sales of digital products quite a while ago. I would say the vendors are not openly advertising that they have digital products, and would be difficult to find.

I wouldn't give the rights for my products to be sold on Ebay, just as I don't allow them to be sold anywhere else as they are. I have a limit on my PLR so it defeats the purpose of having a limit if I were to let other people sell them.

Have you thought about outsourcing to have articles written and then sell them on Ebay. I know that is a higher cost but over time you would make that back. Or even if you bought PLR and paid to have them rewritten, may work out a little cheaper than outsourcing unique articles.

      Hi Sheryl

I don't sell the products with resell rights, I sell them as stand alone products on CD. I don't want 1000s of other people selling the same items as me, but for ridiculously low cos.
I love the idea of having a limit as that makes the products more exclusive, I am always looking for unique items that I can sell for good $$$. I wish I could get some products where I have the exclusive rights to sell on ebay.
I can pm you my ebay store if you want to see what my listings look like,

      cheers
