Thanks All!

I took the 3 lists, combined them, sorted them and removed all the dupes.

Anyone that uses this list may still want to remove any meta-submitters like Ping O matic, as it submits to others on the list, and you could be pinging them too often.

What would happen if you didnt ping your content with them services? but just let your site get crawled naturally? compared to you pinging All them sites? - is the only benifit that your site would get crawled faster?

A member here on the forum, scriptillusion, has a site Blog and Ping Tool - Use Pingler.com to Drive Traffic your Blogs and Websites that pings 90 some sites.

Probably find a few different services listed there.

While being spidered quickly is a benefit, it isn't the main benefit. You want to get your RSS pheed in as many places as possible, and to have it updated and pinged as often as possible.

There's a lot of sites and blogs that use RSS pheeds and you want to give your pheeds the best chance of being picked up by other sites...This is a great way to build links.

But I use my own program called The Pingz Tuel. It automatically checks for updates, can rotate through different servers including my home PC, and I can just set it and forget it. There's a free version that allows one project at Tuelz internet marketing and web site design software if it is of interest.

you are aware that you're double-pinging MANY with those lists and risk to get BANNED?

You have yahoo, google etc. in the list AND you ping pingomatic, feedburner and probably more multi pingers in addition. That's the whole point. Don't do this.
Either use a list of single ping services and remove all "multi pingers", or use a little list with one "multi pinger" since this is all you need.

I had those long lists before too, but checking on the maxblogpress ping optimizer forum i got this small list from the programmer, and it makes sense to me.

I have a long list that I've been using for over a year on my blogs with no ban that I can detect. Major operators of these sites can weed out the multi-pings, duplicate legit pings and so forth very easily in software these days. Now, if you were to ping the same site 1000 times in a minute, yes, you might get an IP ban but for normal WordPress pinging, no, not likely, especially on the important sites.

One thing that a lot of pinging will do is result in your blog getting scraped like crazy. Another is that minor ping sites are down or busy a lot and that can make posting take a while (30 seconds or so) to finish.

be careful guys, posting to too many services can have a negative effect since most of them post to the same places. like pingomatic, etc.

There's a wordpress plugin, forget the name of it now, but it checks to see if the pings were successful or not... it's the plugin that prevents pages being pinged again when they've been edited.

well what i mentioned, maxblogpress ping optimizer.
You use this to limit pings, eg. only one ping/24hrs.

In earlier versions of WP the problem was that WP was pinging at EVERY editing/re-publishing of content. So..if you installed a WP blog and edited a post a few hundred of times (possible!) WP pinged its evry own ping list EACH time the pst was edited ---> basically asking for a ban

As i understand with WP2.5 (?) WP changed that behavior, posts only get pinged now according to their timestamp.

But that ping optimizer plugin might still be handy since it simply limits the pings, especially if you got an autoblog.

I read that recommended setting is 1 ping each 1200mins.

the problem is that there is virtually and literally NO information out there when (and if) a blog could be banned by "excessively" pinging - needles to say there is also no information in regards what would define "excessive pinging".

All i see on the web are "hear-say" assumptions but no real information at all whether there really IS such a thing as a "ban" of excessive pinging blogs.

this is interesting in my case since i think i found an "issue" with MaxBlogpress ping "optimizer"...and knowing that wordpress(at least pre 2.5) usually would ping each time a post got edited, something like a "IP ban" from pinging would not make any sense whatsoever.
(Otherwise zillions of WP blogs would be banned already, for sure. It is quite common for blog owners eg. to edit a post multiple and many times...and getting your blog BANNED because of this <---- ???)

Does Wordpress 2.7 automatically use Pingomatic for each post? I can't find anything on my blogs about pinging.

Is there a way to get Wordpress to replace pingomatic with pingler and/or autopinger? I can't find the options for pinging on my blogs.

Just use PINGLER.COM...it will save your time...lol...if you use auto blog, make sure you use PingOptimizer PlugIn from MaxBlogPress [ will save your account from banned ]

I used to use a really long ping list in the past.... It had a negative impact on my blog. So be careful. I guess it is wise to ping no more than 25-30 services.
