Anyone recommend a good dedicated server host?

I will be launching an ecommerce site soon that will need to be on a dedicated server. I currently have all my domains on shared hosting at HostGator through a reseller account.

I am looking for someone that can give me some feedback on any good dedicated server hosts. I see some being advertised pretty cheaply, around $50 to $60 a month, but have never heard of the company... so they are a no-go. It's important that down-time is at a minimum... I would rather pay extra to know my site will be on 99.99% uptime.

    You should check out Media Temple. They serve some major players and are a notch above your typical hosting company.

    I recommend Zoot host, which is owned by an Internet Marketer I know. This is incredibly important to me because many hosts don't understand the needs of IM'ers and the difficulties they face.

    I'll give you a recommendation against - 1and1. I had a dedicated server with them that blew out hardware about every quarter. The final straw was a crashed hard drive that needed replacing so I could dd my backup. That took 48 hours. 48 hours of voicemail and support reps who did not understand the technology,and sometimes not even English. 48 hours of customers calling asking why their websites/email was offline. I can not in good faith recommend them for dedicated servers.

    But note - I still used them for my shared hosting and have no complaints, but then I've not had to call customer support in over 18 months either.

        I have two dedicated servers with Hostgator and I am very happy with both the servers and the support.

        I also a dedicated server with Kiosk which is good.

        Between the two, definitely Hostgator.
