Success with free wso's?

Has anyone had success giving away free wso's in exchange for email subs?

Just curious the # of subs you end up getting.

I got over 100 new subscribers per free WSO, so it is a pretty good return.

Ok steven thanks for the response.

    for $40, 100 subs is 40/100= $0.40 per subscriber. Decent I guess.

Its not just 100 subs, they are qualified subscribers ready to buy quality products.

I think this is the wrong question to be asking.

I also think you might want to look into monetizing a free WSO.

Don't tell anyone I told you this, but there is a way to make money on a free WSO right out of the gate.

I know, because I have signed up for a free WSO in the past and immediately needed to take out my credit card.

I know the rule is generally $1 per sub per month.

and to Jill...my idea is to build a sustainable list.
if i want to monetize a wso i will do that.

It's the figure generally quoted and discussed, Mike, but I strongly suspect it may be very misleading.

I don't think anyone can possibly measure the average figure, anyway, but even if it is some sort of average, it also conceals more information than it reveals: just among my 8 little niche-lists, I have lists from which I make far more than that, and a couple from which I make far less.

I do think a list built from a free WSO, as long as its subject isn't too obscure, is going to be one of the more valuable ones one could build in this way. But even then, a list built from selling a $1 WSO, though smaller, would probably be far superior, because it would be a list of internet marketers with credit-cards and/or PayPal accounts who are willing to use them. A "buyers' list", in other words.

        Exactly.

I don't know everyone on this forum, and I don't know all the results, but my personal deduction has been that providing a free wso just for the sole purpose of getting subscribers is along the lines of shooting yourself in the foot. Perhaps it has worked for some, but I personally wouldn't go in without some other thing in play that I was at least testing.

I can offer FREE information and get email addresses without directly spending advertising money to do so.

Or if I were to spend, there are less expensive places to advertise.

And I don't understand how the numbers above work? Those seem to me like that "how long is a piece of string" question.

100 subscribers could convert into a lot of sales or even no sales. There are too many variables IMO to make up a number you think will work. The only way to know what will work is like anything else and to just do it yourself.

The $1/subscriber per month "rule"... ISn't really a rule. But instead a benchmark for the "little guy" to strive for. If you get less than that, so be it (although I'd suggest trying to increase the value of the list) if you get higher than that, then that's PERFECT!

So just to reiterate it's not a rule, just a benchmark to go for!

I guess 100 subs for 40 bucks is good enough...But why don't you just go out there and test it out for yourself. Study a few WSO's about how to make a successful WSO and implement the strategies.

There's no better thing to learn from than your own experience - and you will only get that through trying out different stuff. Building a list of subscribers is a slow process and can be done in a lot of different ways.

      Just make it happen

When I get a very good free WSO, I tend to trust and like the marketer. I think it all depends on the quality of the WSO; The better the quality, the more subscribers you get. Few days back a member of our private forum posted a thread about Paul Myers' free WSO. She told us it was high quality. I followed the WSO link and subscribed. A good WSO get's shared spontaneously, giving the owners more subscribers.

I agree with everything you say, but it can also get shared by people emailing it to each other, of course, which doesn't get you any more subscribers at all. If something was free, some people think it's "ok" to send it to others. I'm just saying.

I asked a question on that thread.

It was a question that no one else had covered.

And the answer to that question could take some into all kinds of directions, but the answer basically said that if you wanted to take full advantage of the FREE offer you would need to spend some money somewhere if you hadn't already.

Basically, even if you had spent that money already, then you are a qualified buyer in the MMO niche.

[QUOTE=Mike McAleer;3925650]Has anyone had success giving away free wso's in exchange for email subs?QUOTE]

Let me answer mine with by reversing the question like this.

Has anyone had a success giving away free QUALITY [offer] wso's in exchange for email subs? The answer will surely be YES.

Giving away free offer or wso seems to be a frontend offer while the email list will be the backend. And even if you lost money runing frontend offer... you will surely reap it through your backend offers.

hope i made this illustration clear.

Actually I dont think it's the quality that matter, but they way you present your offer, a lot of WSo are not very good, they are just rehashed information, however some sell very well due to the good sales letter...

So if you want to add a lot of subscriber from your free wso, of course create something of value, that way people on your list are not worthless, but also create a good copy with a lot of copy-writing stuff (testimonial, review etc...) in it so it will convert higher than the average free wso.

I know people who have had a fair amount of success with free WSO, but i echo the thoughts of... Buyers list > Freebie List.

Also, dont forget to link to your WSO be it paid or free in your sig! Free advertising and youll still be getting some traffic to it without having to bump

Granted, no where near as much as a bump, but if your on a tight budget its a great way to squeeze some extra traffic to your offer.

    Good luck,
    Josh

I would highly recommend you create your own, if you dont know any, go out and research!

You can also head to master-resale-rights.com and purchase a PLR e-book with giveaway rights, however i cannot vouch for the quality as it does vary!

Create it if you can though.

The free WSOs have the word FREE in their titles. Just go to the WSO section and search for the word FREE. You can send your subscribers to any WSO.

This number can be quite misleading, if you provide good value, you can reach that, also it is possible to be above that.

If your sending out a fair few offers, your $ per sub will go down dramatically.

    Mike,

I wouldn't even bother with one. If you are wanting to make
serious cash with a list, then you need to build a list of buyers.
Most freebie hunters won't make you a single dime.

So, focus on building a list of buyers.
