Hey,

When looking for wordpress themes to use what features are important to look out for and what compatibilities are important.

I'd like a theme that I know I won't have problems with later down the line if I need special plugins and so forth and since I'm not very clued up I though id ask.

Not sure if it matters but my blog will be about IM

Thank you Warriors.

Go with the solid ones, like K2 or Twenty Ten. Then you'll figure what you want - design wise.

It's the easier and most reliable approach.

do you want a free theme, or a paid theme

Free theme: get the ones from wordpress.org/extend/themes
why? In order to be accepted as a theme contributor, the theme design must follow the WordPress guidelines or the theme will be rejected.

Paid themes: there are many great ones, and the upside is the support that comes with the purchase: recommend Woo themes and all the ones WordPress.org recommends here:

There are some amazing free themes out there that give you lots of flexibility. Atahualpa comes to mind but there are others as well. There are also theme designers here at Warriorforum that you could consult with.

    Hi there,

Have a look at Platform 1.2.5 by PageLines

It's a good theme and it's mainly "drag and drop" for layout etc.

You can get the theme for free, and they also have a paid PRO version with extra functioanlity added in, but the free one does the job just fine.

+1 for Platform. I use to rely on pre-made themes and such but since I spotted Platform and gave it a good go I'm hooked. Will be seeing what the PRO version is all about here soon.

I've been looking at the free Platform theme because its simple and simple sometimes is best.

I was just wondering with these like these can you actually edit the code and change things about?

      Thanks
