hey guys, this is a new site I put up, and when I see it in the search engine results it looks like this: African Cichlid Fish | | Cichlid FishCichlid Fish

^^^^ That is what the title looks like. I don't understand why it says "Cichlid FishCichlid Fish"?

Anyone know why that is? I am using wordpress, the title of my post is African Cichlid Fish, and my title of my blog is Cichlid Fish, but I don't know why it showing up like this?

Thanks in advance

    Hi tjc348,

Are you using an SEO plugin such as All-In-One SEO?

If so, you need to navigate to the settings page for that plugin - EG - settings>all in one SEO

    Then set it up properly.

Let me know if this is the problem, if not, give some more info regarding any SEO plugins.

Thanks ExRat. This is most likely the problem. I do in fact have an SEO plugin. Once I get home from work today I will look into the settings and find out the problem. Thanks alot, I didn't even begin to think that would be the cause.

I'm looking at my SEO plugin settings and I don't see what would be causing this or how to change it. When I go to edit my post, the plugin shows me a preview of the snippet and it looks like this:

African Cichlid Fish - Cichlid Fish
May 23, 2011 ... The most common African Cichlids originate from three of Africa's rift lakes: Lake Malawi, Lake Tanganyika, and Lake Victoria. Each of ...

In my SEO plugin I have the option to Hide wordpress SEO box on edit pages, and disable the advanced part of the SEO meta box. I don't see how any of these options could be related to my problem. If you know which setting it would be that would be great. Thanks

        Hi tjc348,

What is the name of your SEO plugin please?

What appears to be happening is that -

        'Cichlid Fish'

...is the phrase you have chosen as your blog's main title - (settings>general)

And probably, your SEO plugin is set to add this phrase to your title. Plus you have probably set up your posts/pages setting in the SEO to be like this -

        post title ~ blog title

So it is adding it twice. You either need to -

        a) check all of the settings in your SEO plugin to find where it is being asked to put this keyword in twice - if it's not the cause, you need to find the cause and solve it by means of elimination

        b) ask me to log into your website and solve it for you - I can jump on skype as well to talk you through it if you want

I'm happy to do this if you want, just let me know here.

          Hello tjc348,

Just to chime in, ExRat very kindly got on Skype and solved a problem for me when I joined the forum.

He was extremely efficient and explained everything perfectly.

This is a good opportunity for you, I'd take him up on his offer, if I were you.
