Can a few people check this url please...

I need some help to see if my main website is still redirecting to my mobile site.

Can a few warriors use their web enabled mobile phones and go to my main site:
mobilewebsites4u.com

According to the company that hosted my redirect service, it should no longer redirect to my mobile site which is:
mobilewebsites4u.mobi

When I check on my phone, it still redirects to the .mobi site

This is causing me a huge problem as I do not want it to redirect, and I need to use my main site for my upcoming WSO

Thanks guys

Just to double check, when you say working fine, you're typing in the .com site and that's where you end up right?

If it's taking you to the mobile site ending in .mobi, then I still have the problem. In spite deleting my cache, history, rbooting, taking out the battery, I still get redirected to my mobile site after visiting the .com version. I don't want this to happen.

          Can you please confirm again.

          Thanks

There are tools to check this without a mobile device:

iPhone/iPad: Downloads - ibbdemo2 - Cross Platform iPhone and iPad Web Browser Simulator - Google Project Hosting

      Thank you Nail.

I thought I was going mad. So that company have still not released my domain from their redirect service. At least I know now and they cannot repeatedly tell me that my site no longer redirects.

Thanks Nail for reading my request and replying accordingly.

Have you any idea how I can solve this issue myself?

They will just take months of saying the same thing. I already have had terrible support issues with them in the past, hence my reason for leaving them. Now they can't even sort out a simple redirect issue.

Thing is, I did not give them access to install any redirect scripts on my server, so they must be controlling it from theie end within the mobile site builder I used back then. They claim to have deleted it, but the results are clear to see.

I'm absolutely livid, but must find a solution of my own. Any ideas on how to over-ride their redirect so that I can have full control over the domain I own?

      Thanks

Stewart, it is really difficult to tell you what to do without having a look at what is causing that redirection. If you want I can take a look at that for you.

          nail,

I found a solution, or at least my webhosts, Hostgator support team did. They always deliver, never, ever would I leave them. Why I didn't think to ask them before is beyond me.

The company in question who created the redirect are called Mobisite Galore. if you hear of them, run! You know what it was?

As part of the set up, I gave them ftp access to my site. Their redirect feature altered my .htaccess file, so it looked like this. notice the last line...

          RewriteEngine on
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Windows CE" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "NetFront" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Palm OS" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Blazer" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Elaine" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "^WAP.*$" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Plucker" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "vodafone" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "iPhone" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "nokia" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "symbian" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "Opera Mini" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "BlackBerry" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "j2me" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "midp" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "htc" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "java" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "sony" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "android" [NC,OR]
          RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} "AvantGo" [NC]
          RewriteRule (.*) Mobile Websites 4U [R,L]

Now why could they not simply tell me that instead of giving me the runaround?

Anyway, the Hostgator guys fixed it in 5 minutes. Now I have full control over my domain again.

Thank you for your time Nail. Keep your eye out for a PM from me. And thanks to everyone else too who took the time out to help.

            Stewart,

Nice to hear that you found a solution, I also use Hostgator and their support is excellent. Didn't have any issue with them in the last two years.

I know them and I know other like 20 or so services in this field. I am also working on mobile site design at the moment and I decided to go my way at the very beginning before approaching them.

Mostly, that kind of services don't want to educate their customers, that's the basis of their business. For example, if a person learns he doesn't need to pay for extra hosting for a mobile site if he already has a hosting account, then they will lose that person.
