How to build an cashcow of a list that brings in the $

I've been trying to think of some great ways to build a list FASTER and with better subscribers that are interested in your content for the best possible monetary return.

But I'm not an expert.

The 5 top ways I have are:

1. Master a niche where people have ongoing needs or problems (pain, ambition, relationships)

2. Offer a great freebie ebook, instantly downloadable

3. Kane the social networks: Digg, Stumbled, FB, twitter with articles & links for organic SEO traffic

4. Put your hover box up and make it clear of the benefits of joining

5. If you have problems getting traffic, pay a few cents per targeted Google ads

A lot of this depends on how much organic traffic you get from the SEs. I'd prefer to avoid paying them any ad money of course.

I define good list-building as 30 new subscribers per day.

I'm sure many of you who are more experienced have managed to jack out 200 per day at least.

What's your list builder accelerator top technique?

If you build a list of a few thousand buyers in an evergreen niche, and add a few hundred people to it occasionally, you can live like a king/queen for many years.

The thing is, if you've got offers out which are at least breaking even on the front-end you're basically getting a buyer list for free.

It isn't hard to create short reports which sell for $5-$25 that people buy all day long with little resistance, low refund rates etc.

It doesn't even take very long, if you spend a few months making it your number one objective -- you'll have a list of a few thousand buyers pretty quickly.

The alternative is to build a prospect/subscriber list, but you've got to be a skilled and talented marketer to make decent money from prospect/subscriber lists.

Cool - what do you think about using PPC to get more subscribers?

PPC is great, but I wouldn't recommend using squeeze pages with Adwords as they're not allowed (they interpret them as "data collection" sites).

What you need to do is give Adwords what they want, a good user experience with a lot of quality content on your site.

Which leads into your squeeze or sales page at some point.

        Good luck.

Excellent - what I already have is good and original content and a squeeze on my site. I'll look into the adwords possibilities of getting faster signups.

          Appreciate these nuggets of advice.

There's been some great ideas posted but keep in mind that a freebie list isn't near as powerful as a list of buyers.

I'd recommend creating your own product in your niche and selling it at a low price point to build a list.

            Cheers,

              That's a great idea james!

You mean put together a great report and sell it for like $2.95 or something to get people to sign up to your list?

You got it. Just make sure the product you put together is of high quality. The key is two fold a) get em on your list and b) blow em away with quality so they want to buy from you again.

I was in sales for ten+ years and one thing is always true; people will buy from you when they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST you. There are many tactics for doing this offline but online it comes down to one word; VALUE.

                Cheers,

                James

Thanks this is on line to what I plan to do.

What I am doing right now is dangling the golden carrot. I know how to make money online so that is what I will blog about very soon. I don't want to blog and share my tactics when no one is listening so I started the blog, proved that I make GOOD MONEY online and added the subscription option.

Right now I am getting about 10-20 subscribers a day simply by coming onto the warrior forum and helping people out, which I enjoy doing anyways

I would stay away from #2. The last thing you want is a big list of "tire kickers." Offering your product for $1 is better than a list of people who haven't committed their wallet. I will take 10 people who have paid to be on my list over a list of 1000 who joined for free.

Everyone talks about creating a 'buyers list'. Like pmbrent said, even if it's only a dollar.

How does one go about using an email marketing solution like aweber or constant contact to produce a buyers list? Is this integrated into your payment solution (paypal, google checkout, etc) somehow?

Good question. As far as I understand, you'll have a link to your own product on CB (or another network).

To get access to your $1 product, you'll need them to input their email to your aweber list and THEN pay to download the product. Once they're in your list, they'll be on autoresponder.

I like the $2.95 report idea. But ultimately, you still have to generate traffic towards your squeeze page, right? Any tips?
