Flipping Website? What is it?

I've heard a lot, but never find a decent explanation, what is it actually??

can anybody explain a bit, what is it, how it works, etc?

Hi Trice,

There are several ways to "flip websites". You can simply buy a complete website for a low price and immediately put it back on the market for a higher price, or you can build a website from scratch, develop some traffic and/or customer list and sell the whole thing, or you can buy a website that is half-done and build it up to sell for profit.

The best marketplace to sell (and buy) websites is SitePoint : New Articles, Fresh Thinking for Web Developers and Designers. You can also sell your websites at places like DigitalPoint, DNForum, and even here at the WF, in the right section of course.

Don't forget about Ebay. You can find some tips on flipping websites right here on the WF, and there are several WSO's right now on that very subject that will get you up and running in no time.

Why did Gene get an infraction? Seems like a pretty good explanation. I flip blogs for profit. Mostly, it is not real flipping because I build most of them from scratch. A true flip is finding a site that has potential, fixing all the problems, getting links and traffic and reselling it for a nice profit. You can get my free ebook to see an example of a blog flip I did in real time here on the forum.
