Advice on recurring affiliate system

Hi all - new on here posting, but long time lurker.

Question, I've done a ton in traditional ecommerce (pack and ship products), rather successfully. But, I'm releasing a new system which is online and billed as a monthly subscription.

I'll be introducing an affiliate system with it. The product sales for around $10 monthly with a Free Trial.

Since I'm new to this type of affiliate setup, I'd like to your input on my questions:

1- Since there is a Free trial (15 days), would affiliates have any objections to receiving payment only for a trial that converts to a paid subscriber. Ie, if they sign-up but don't convert to a paying customer, the affiliate doesn't get paid.

2- I know this is an "out there" question, but are there any industry norms in terms of percentages the affiliates are used to getting a cut of (10%, 20%, etc etc). I def don't want to be seen as cheap in the amount paid out... would like to go with an industry norm, if there is such a thing.

3- It is a recurring cycle. For a subscription product, are most affiliates used to getting paid for the life of the account (each monthly renewal) or do most expect a one-time payment or is it pretty split?

Thanks so much! I look fwd to your input as I've run affiliate programs in the past... but like I say, it's been a quick order, product out the door, payment to the affiliate.
