Question for Software Affiliates

For those of you promoting software products (registry cleaners, driver updaters, disk defrag, PC optimizers/speed up your PC, backup and antivirus)...

What do you look for in a software merchant (out of the affiliate program and on the merchant website itself, or product options)?

How can a software advertiser make your life easier, help you convert better, or offer to you so you can be a successful affiliate?

Is there anything unique to software promotions that stands out to affiliates in this niche?

    I don't think software developer's are necessarily any more helpful, in general, than any other company that promotes a product through affiliates. Some are just better than others.

    That being said, when choosing affiliate products to promote, I do check out what the company has to offer in the way of tools that may help me in increasing my sales, and also the effectiveness of their support (if any).

    For instance, many companies do extensive split-testing on emails, banners, etc., and then offer the best-performing ones to you, which can sometimes be a real time-saver.
