This little change increased my opt-ins by 3% - it might surprise you

Hey Warriors,

I'm back with another list building tip...

You know I'm always testing and tweaking and trying new things and this one kinda surprised me but it makes sense...

Another marketer mentioned this on his webinar recently and I thought it was pretty logical so I thought I would get it a try...

Remove the "Your Info Will Never Be Shared" line from underneath your opt-in box...

The marketer that mentioned this tip then when on to say "... it's like asking a girl out on a date and saying if you go out with me I promise not to cuss you, hit you, or sleep with your sister..."

It really makes sense though when you think of it in that context. So I removed this "negative" from my squeeze page and it has increased opt-ins by 3%

So give it a try and see what you come up with

Surprising I thought it is best to put that in the opt-in box because more visitor will put their names and email. It makes me think whether should I remove those negative stuff.

Yes, I did actually replace it with a positive statement. Thanks for asking I forgot to mention that...

I changed it to "You Will Get Your First Lesson Instantly"

I don't really see how this would increase conversions. Personally, I would rather give my email to someone that promises not to share it. I was actually taught that putting a statement saying you will never share their email with third parties increases conversions by quite a bit.

You were taught this, but have you tested if for yourself? That's the point...

Always be sure to test it out for yourself. Just like with any marketer, not just Coby, what works for some may not work for you and vice versa.

That's another benefit added to your copy. Was that same benefit mentioned in your control as maybe that is what gave you an increase of 3%?

A positive replacement for the anti-spam message could be along the lines of "You will only receive awesome content from myself about (the market of your offer)" not another call to action or feature.

It can reaffirm that they will only get related information from yourself and implies that you won't be giving their email away to other marketers to contact them.

this is why it is always good to test...

I still think you should test longer... How conclusive (in %) was your a/b test?

Thing is most people have been spammed to death and this is an automatic objection you are simply answering by adding this copy to your site.

So in your situation its makes sense to say those things to a girl when you ask her out - Knowing in the past she had already been "cussed at, hit and had a past boyfriend sleep with her sister" LOL

Personally, I feel reassured by the affirmation that my information will not be shared with a third party. I have gotten a lot of spam and it is nice know that if I sign up for something everyone and their brother will not be spamming me.

If not having it works for you and gets you more clicks, though, I say more power to you.

It does make logical that certain people wouldn't have thought about the bad things that can happen while giving away their email address and that warning just shows them what could go wrong. But its probably still important to add a Privacy Policy, and write down what you won't share their email, ect. in there.
