Help with snagging this domain name?

I'm trying to register this domain for a new business and it seems as though the .com extension is taken. But when I look at the whois info, I get the following:

Status: redemptionPeriod
Updated Date: 04-may-2011
Creation Date: 24-mar-2010
Expiration Date: 24-mar-2011

Can anyone explain and when will I be able to grab this if at all? Not sure what redemption period and updated date means.

Thanks!

Forget it. If the site is already running then the chances are it will be renewed before it even hits expiration.

The site isn't running, and if you read it, it expired over 2 months ago.

Even after the expiration date the owner has a 42 day redemption period. This is where the Domain seller totally gouges and raises the price. So if you domian expires but your in the redemption period, you can pay $150 to get it back.

I've read its 75 days total, so in about 2 weeks it SHOULD be available. Put in a backorder with Snapname just in case. Worth the investment.

Well if the owner doesn't do anything in 2 weeks then you should be able to grab the domain.

Contact the owner through who is or the host and buy it.

That will be the fastest way the owner will increase the price three times.
If the .net and/or .org for that domain are available, I would take one of
them and wait for the redemption period to end.

  • Just wait for the redemption period to end, is the best way. You don't want anyone to know you're interested in the least.

You can try back ordering at Godaddy or SnapNames.

Yup, I'd do this if you really want it, $69.

I've 2 domains expiring this year I'm interested in, August and September, I'll be using snapnames.

      Good luck.
