Change Primary Domain Name (GoDaddy)

Morning Warriors:

Is it possible to change a primary domain name?

I found a .com that is available that would suit my niche in a way where I could stretch out a little more with subcategories.

If so, is it something I could do myself, or do I need assistance from GoDaddy in addition to letting them know of the change.

Thank you for any anticipated help you can give.

What, precisely, do you want to happen?

When you say "change a domain name," that doesn't mean anything.

Domain names are just a convenient shorthand for a folder on a computer.

When you type a domain name into your browser, the DNS system on the internet tells you to go ask the machine with a certian IP address for that content.

And when you ask that machine for the domain name, it will just point you to a particular folder on the computer.

You can have five million domain names all pointing at the same folder on the same computer.

What, precisely, are you trying to make happen?

      @CDarkLock:

Thanks. When I purchased my domain name it was also my main keyword. From what I had been reading, this was a good thing.
I made page #1 of google in about 4 days, and two of my articles were on page 1 as well.
Well, that all got deflated yesterday when a few warriors explained that it looked like there wasn't much traffic for my keyword.
The anti-aging niche is large, so I figured I might change my primary domain name and then be able to broaden my scope of topics while keeping everything relevant (domain name included).
However, this might not be the way to go. I'm asking for help to salvage this site and just myself room to make it successful as I learn.
      Open to suggestions.
      Thank you.

      Ty

You can't change domain names you currently have, if you found a new name that suits your niche well you have to buy the domain name again.

What you can do is buy a new domain with the new keyword you're focussed on, and then you can put a 302 redirect on that domain name to point to your existing site.

OR, if you already have good rankings for the existing domain, why not just make a new page of your site, name it to the keyword, and do some backlinking direct to that page? so the page would look like
    www.myoldkeyword.com/my-new-keyword.html
and make sure the page title, H1 etc are all on the new keyword.
