Problems with Google Sales Conversion Stats

I've been marketing with adwords for almost a year now, and the one thing I have not been able to figure out is why I can never get good results from my sales conversion tracking.

Most of my buyers do not buy on the spot, but rather subscribe to a mini-course first. The conversions for the mini-course signups work great.

But, when the sales roll in 1-30 days later, they're almost never picked up by Google Sales Conversion tracking.

Does anyone else have this problem, where maybe the cookie on the buyer's computer gets erased or something? I've checked and rechecked that the code is on the right landing page, etc.

I'm really dying to track my sales to the keyword or adgroup they came from instead of just the conversions, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas? Or is this typical with the delayed sales model I'm using.

Thanks!

One idea - does it not work with content network?

    Something else to consider-

I know that a small percentage of people will see my adword and instead of clicking, they will type the url shown in the ad into their browser and go to my site that way. I have not been able to tell if a sale from such an occurrence is counted in the Google stats either. I am thinking it isn't though.
