HELP....I almost quit ...

Hi everyone ...
Merry Christmas and happy new year 2009.

Let me start this post by telling a short story about my journey in the internet marketing world.

I have been a part timer in the internet marketing, selling some scripts i developed, develop custom software etc.

From my experience, I have never make a killing, ....
You know,... I never earn so much money - or a constant income, So I can be a full timer.
(Until now, I am still working, as IT head in a media / publishing company in indonesia).

I almost quit.... but,
Deep in my head, I still believe in the power of internet marketing ....

Right now I was about to release a new software based on my last project.
(SMS Server software written in a JAVA langguage)

But I doubt I can successfully selling this software ........
(I have seen people successfully selling some very simple scripts that i can make it in a few hours)

Any comment, idea or concrete suggestions?

    First of all, you are going to have to change your mindset. I'm not a motivational speaker or self-help guru, but it looks like you are your own worst enemy.

    Next, based on what you've told us, it looks like you may be strong on the technical side but weak on the marketing side. It might be best for you to team up with someone strong in marketing and maybe work out a JV or something.

    It is being said that SMS Marketing is the "next big thing." If so, you might just have a winner on your hands. If not the software you mentioned here, at least you have the knowledge to dive in to this opportunity from the technical side.

    What's this killing you are talking about. How many $$$ per month do you expect?

      Let's say, my earning as a salary man is around 1500$ per month.
      I think if I don't make at least the same amount in a constant from IM,
      I will never dare to be a full timer (consider i have a wife and a sons)

    Hey. That's where you're wrong.
    I'm asking how much $$/mo ... your goal!
    Set it up!
    Don't leave your day job before you reach certain goal.
    Still set a goal. Spare your time. Make a plan and do it.

    SMS server is old idea and saturated. Unless you can invest big you'll face a very hard times. You face competition with big boys in international market.

    Focus! Sell a solution not a product. Find your unique sell points.
    Maybe SMS Marketing, like ptone said.

    It's hard to make suggestions without details. What marketing efforts have you tried so far, and what were your results? Knowing where your at will help people make more helpful recommendations.
