Amazon affilliate question from a newbie

Hy,

Im a newbie and want to make money online with amazon affiliate.
So my question about, what the IM gurus not said is;

What is realistic;

When I work after 2-3 months on a new site, let's say after this will have 200 visitors a day.
With 10% click rate this are 20 visitor a day, who are going from my site to amazon
I make my product page well, to become a determined conversion of 5% or higher, this are 5 sales from 100 visitors.
But these 100 visitors summary come here after 5 days.
5 days with each 20 amamzon visitors are 100, so I would have to make five sales every week?
With products from up $ 100, if each visitor buys for $ 150 are here, this makes $ 7.50 amazon commission each customer x5 are $ 37.50 commission a week. This commission multiplied x 4 weeks = $ 150 amazon commission in month??

This is far away from my target to make 3000-5000 $ every month.

Or must I do calculate different? With 5% conversion thats by 200 visitors each dayx 30 days= 6000 visitors.

5% conversion rate from 6000 visitors= 300 sales???? Or is this so with an 10% ctr, that from this 6000 visitors 10% = 600 are going to amazon, with an 5% conversion ratem thats are 30 sales?? 30salesx 7,50 commission is only 225$

What of them is correct calculate?
So I must build minimum 20 product niche sites to make 5000$ in month?
Thats a lot of work.
I think the IM "Gurus" who make 5000$ every month ore more without list bulding, they have more than 1 niche website.

With 1 website this is not possible, perhaps, when this site is big like the new x factor site with 2200 indexed pages.
But to make a site with 2000 indexes sites, you must write minimum 200 sites of content/articles who are suitable to the products you promote/ or adsense, in month, when you will make money shorter in time than 1 year.

This beeing 20 articles/pages every day, without the work time for writing artciles to directories to build backlinks too.
20 articles a day is a lot.

with best regards

Very good idea to do the math, but you might be over thinking it! You can not predict how much you will make, you have to just start a website and start making money and never look back!

A method I use is to add adsense and Amazon so I get double earnings. My adsense is the main source of income, but then I check my Amazon account and see $50-$100 a day in profit! One day a person bought a $1500 treadmill and I got close to $100 alone from one sale, and I don't even have a website about treadmills

Just start building and testing and optimizing your sites and you will see a nice bit of money coming in. The more you build and test the more you will make, then when Christmas comes around you will see a nice spike in earnings!

There are a number of people making thousands from Amazon with just a few sites. It can be done. Here are a few tips for you.

      1. Choose products with a high payout. Look for products that sell for over $100 or more so you can get a decent sized commission.

      2. Look for products that have great reviews and sell well. You can find this data on the product page.

      3. Mix in some low priced products to help get your commission fee up. Keep in mind that your commission rate is determined by the NUMBER of items you sell, not by the amount of money you take in.

      4. Consider selling products where the consumer is more likely to buy more things such as hobby items, electronics (need those cables) etc. In some types of niches, buyers are more likely to add on items.

      5. Try this search string in Google to help you identify items:
5...50 customer reviews product name site: amazon.com $50..300
This will pull up items from $50-$300 with a least 5 reviews. (thanks Sojourn for this tip)

      6. Have a great review page with clickable photos and links. Include the benefits. Widgets do not convert well so add your own pics.

      7. Use buyer keywords to promote your content and rank in those who are ready to make a purchase.

      Hope that helps...

Do you type it exactly as it is in Google or change "product name" with a keyword?

You put in the product name or type of product (keyword) that you are interested in selling.

          For example...

5...50 customer reviews flat screen tv site: amazon.com $50..300

As Jeremy states above don't over think it. If you want a business model run a few sites for a few months and use average stats to create your model.

The average commission rate you used is 5%, it should be 6%(UK) and 6 1/2 or 7% (US) once you get going and meet the average number of sales per month.

The problem with average product price is people don't make purchases that way. I have a site with an average product price of $12 getting many small sales per month. Yet, yesterday someone made a $199 purchase in a totally unrelated category. And then went on to buy additional unrelated smaller items. That is the beauty of Amazon.

Conversion rates varies by season and by the niche product. In my case it ranges from 2% to 14%.

    Hello

thanks for your really good tips!
@LilBlackDress, thanks for your great tip with the search term..

But make money as an affiliate with real estate or so,must be possible too.

Yes, my problem is to overthink it.
I am controller of professional, I like planning to, though you could not predict conversion and click-through rates,I know, thats pity.
But with a site method like xfactor, this must bring more conversion rates , I think, I think, I think.....I have read too much internet marketing case studys, my head is a little bit surround.

But in next week I start build 3 different niche websites, all domains are now 8 months old, its time to get start and make business! Time to do.
I try to make theese sites big, in 3-4 months try to build 200 sites for each of theese niche websites, than i will see the results, great or not. Not looking back.
Put amazon and adsense on it, so it looks not like an MFA site.

But i must make a little bit automatically submit, writing with content professor.... 3 websites to build it up to 200 sites.............every site with 200 keywords, that must bring traffic. (without social traffic).

Thank for your tips and best wishes.
I will be report later about my success.

    regards

3 large sites is nice and very manageable. Put 10 or so pages on each site, do some backlinking and see how they do. Use a spreadsheet system to keep track of the linkbuilding you do and stay organized.

I have spreadsheets set up for each of my sites. Each lists out all my keywords. Then I have the URL for that keyword and on another page all the links I built for it. With an authority site you will need to do something like that so you can see what you have done and what you need to do. I can see at a glance what work I have done. Some of my sites have 100+ keywords so this really helps with organization.

You seem concerned about all the content, don't worry about that now. You are jumping ahead of yourself. Instead focus in on 10 pages for each of your 3 site and building links to those pages. Gradually build the sites up to include more pages. In some cases you may find a keyword so profitable you spin it off into another site.

Something for you to keep in mind....

It is great to have authority sites because you get found for all types of keywords BUT you can make thousands of dollars with JUST ONE page on your site. So don't focus on sheer numbers.

  • Ok, so that's $150 a month. But remember, once you have built one site you can build another, or keep adding pages, and then doing SEO work to rank those as well for Amazon products.
$150 a site could start looking nice if you had 10 or 15 of them running on auto pilot.

Even tho Google's search does not reflect all searches, you say the keyword is getting 1000 searches a month and you are getting 1500 visitors a month. That is pretty high. Are you sure your stats are right?

You may never get a sale from the site if you don't have a good buyers keyword and the site doesn't invite the visitor to make the sale. If you PM me your info. I will take a look.

If you get 200 visitors a day to your site you should at least get a 35% click through rate to Amazon from where you can expect a 5-14% or so conversion rate.

Your main focus is to increase your click through rate to Amazon and to get more traffic to your site. Amazon will take care of the conversions etc.

If you have a site that sells products over $100 and you can get 200-300 visitors a day to it you should make around 2K or more per month from that site. Build 3 of those and focus on them. That will get you to your 5K a month mark.

        Cheers,

That depends upon your product, research, targeted traffic, time of year, presell and your site itself amongst other things. Experience, or training with somebody experienced can also be a strong factor.

2 years ago the sites I was building struggled for sales despite getting hundreds of visitors a day, now I can put an Amazon site up and 'almost' guarantee that the sales will start within a week and with 10 or less visitors a day because the traffic is highly targeted and because I have learned from others and from my mistakes.

What I am saying is don't be disappointed if you don't make sales at first. Learn from what you are doing, learn from others there are some fantastic threads on this forum, test and tweak and then when the sales start to happen scale it up. I'm sure that it will happen quicker for you, it took me a long time to figure out that it was me and not Amazon that was stopping me from selling.

That may be realistic for some niches and once you know what you are doing, but using figures like that could make others feel inadequate. There are too many variables to say that this is how it should be.

    Hello,

    I think (yes I think, I think,I think)

When an affiliate build his site so as xfactor to have a high ctr lets say 10%, than he need 1000 visitors a day, who make 1-3 or more sales everday on amazon, 10% thats are 100 visitors who are going to amazon.

When you send less under 100 visitors a day to amazon, I think everybody affiliate will no make money with amazon, they cookie is always 24 hours setting.

Or you must build a big website with 100 pages /or articles, 10 visitors a day per site= 1000 visitors a day. But every visitor is not reading all your pages/article,no, perhaps 3 pages.

So you have a website with 300 pages, so than 100 of them will be reading by 10 visitors a day, so you have the traffic summary from 1000 visitors/day.

I think its a number game with amazon as adsense. A 200-300 niche page website earns more money with adsense than a mini site, this will multiple the adsense earnings an multiple the traffic, 300 pages brings more traffic than a 10 pages mini site. But the 10 page mini site is less work I know, I love less work, a crucial thing.

If I read here some posts, then more humans earn with google adsense good money, but not with amazon. Many human write, they have 50 visitors/day or somewhat more, but however no sales. That it who which me something headache preparing. WHY- that is the big question of all.

What is the big secret or difference to the amazon affiliate marketer who makes 5000$ every month ore more with amazon, to the other people who only make 100$ in month with amazon, without that list building or somewhat the bigger marketer do.

    Thats the right question.

    best wishes
