Duplicate content question for a confused newbie

Please don't be rude and call me naes if I post this question in the wrong place. I read here and have purchased some WSO's but got confused a little on finding where to post a general question from a newbie. This appears to be the right place so here is what I have.

I am working on a clickbank project with some friends. A course was purchased that included selected products to promote, articles for the wordpress blog, keyword and full instructions. After getting a few sites up I am finding out that there are others out there using the same articles on their sites. I am sure they probably bought the same course and thus have the same content. Will this keep me down in Google? Should I remove the ten articles that came with the course from the Wordpress site and create ten new articles or just add fresh content to the Wordpress site as new posts?

Thanks in advance good people.

I'd say rewrite the articles using your own voice, new titles, and maybe adding to them.

    Or write new articles.

Yes, remove the 10 articles and write new ones.

    or....
use the articles as a platform to build from....

use the ideas and the general info - but rewrite them in your own words and with your own flavor!

it can be hard to write if you are not used to it but by using other articles for ideas you can get a headstart

it will become easier to do off the top of your head after a while

treat it like PLR and just redo it so that it is more than 60% unique and good luck!

  • Take down your posts, look at the articles and take out useful info, and rewrite it in your own words. Maybe ad some humor in there, or something that makes them "human" versus robotic repetitions. Google likes ORIGINAL content. Even if you only get like 5 good posts out of those 10 articles. 5 original ones will be more beneficial, than a bunch of repetition.

There's always a debate over duplicate content and I'm not going to join in that one here. What I will say is from my own practical experience.

I have blogs with only 5 posts of unique content that rank page 1 in Google and make money. I have autoblogs with 1000's of pages of duplicate content that don't make as much money.

I have also autoblogs with unique content (spun articles) that perform around 9-10 times better than the autoblogs with duplicate content

Ok, there are other factors but in this case I think content is a major one.

So my advice is always go for unique content. Even if that is simply rewriting your articles.

Will this keep you down in Google?

Maybe. It may keep the other sites down instead. Much depends on the nature of the search. I've done some trials where people in different parts of the USA ran the same searches at the same time and got different results. I've also run the same trial using my home computer and the publich computers at the library - same thing, different results.

The only real 'penalty' for having the same content as other sites is that it gives Google more choices of which page to display in a given slot for any particular search.

My advice would be to add fresh content. Then go back as time allows and rewrite the old articles as people have suggested above.
