Are your sites WC3 Valid? Is there an easy way to validate them?

Hi guys.

I'm using the weaver theme to make my sites. None of them are WC3 valid. When I check out competition sites, they're never valid either.

Will this really hurt my rankings? Does it matter?

If so, is there an easy way to validate them, a plugin?

I paid for a fiverr service, but just got a report back... which means I'd have to manually go in and tinker with my sites code. I'd rather spend my time doing something else...

So, WC3 validation... should I care?

    Tried the WC3 Validator /

    I'm guessing the google webmaster tool that verifies spiderability might be more relevant to the bottom line.

    The main use of validators is when a page is having a display problem. A validator can sometimes show you just what is wrong.

    Other than that, I don't worry about it. Nearly all the Amazon and Markethealth ads will not validate without errors. I've seen around 140 errors on some google pages. That doesn't seem to hurt their rankings.

    If you look at the source of google.com, the page doesn't have /body or /html tags. Very invalid, right? I read one of their blog posts about this. None of the browsers do anything with those tags, so they might as well save the bandwidth.

    They seem to just worry about getting things done efficiently, not about advanced theoretical html. The validators are just playing catch up.

    I put up a small page with more details. Is valid code important?

    Having valid markup is good because it makes the life of the crawlers easy to crawl your website. If it is not valid it may end up skipping some bits of your site and not index it completely. So it is always good to get rid of this HTML issues.

    Your ranking wont hurt if your site is not html validated...so don't worry about it but if you can fix it then it's good...

      There's so much to do to get you site ranked... I have some sites on page 1 of google. I've checked the competition for validation, and they don't pass... I'm wondering, will having a valid page give you any sort of advantage over them.

      If it does it's worth the hassle fixing...

        The answer is no. If your site works in all browsers, let it go. Who cares if it's WC3 Valid, unless you are doing work for a client and they insist on it.

    Hey, it wasn't me who wrote your report was it? There's two of us offering this service so it might have been me

    Validation is NOT important in relation to any business objective. Google doesn't care if your HTML validates however, they have stated that bloated code could increase loading time, which affects ranking.

    Personally, unless you have loads of obvious errors i.e. unclosed DIV, missing ALT tags etc, I would not worry.

        ah, no, i'm matt5409 on there too

        also, i've reviewed hundreds of sites and probably only 3/4 have had valid HTML

    It basically counts towards your SEO a little bit if valid and your rankings may benefit slightly but in reality getting it all valid is often not worth the hard work and patience.

    A huge percentage oft he internets websites are not valid and it is not a big deal
