Grabbing images and logos...

Hello,

Just wondering something...

Where would you go to get images/logos to use on your blog.

For example lets say I wrote an article about Google...could I just grab the stardart Google logo from one of their pages and use that on my blog or is that breaking copyright law?

    Typically, logos and images come with trademarks, so it would illegal if you used them. Whether Google would seek a lawsuit against you is doubtful unless you were slandering their brand.

    However, it's best to use stock/royalty free images for your blog. You can get these for free at sxc.hu and other places. You can purchase rights to images at istockphoto.com and places like that.

    gettyimages is an online storage for images/logos that doesn't have any copyright.

    Look for the company's trademark and logo guidelines.

    Google's is here: Google Permissions

    Apple's is here: Apple - Legal - Copyright and Trademark Guidelines

    Microsoft's is here: Microsoft Trademark Guidelines

    Most other major companies have a similar set of guidelines.

    Cheers everyone,

    I've been reading the Google links posted above but unfortunatly its not 100% clear on putting the logo on my a blog and I couldn't find any free stock photos of a Google logo.

    Most large companies have a page where publishers can grab logos and other images from for commercial use. Google is no exception. Images and B-roll ? News from Google

    There is a dropdown on that page for logos.
