3 months to hit $3k per month

Hey warriors,

I was wondering, what would you do if you were now earning just $100 per month and had to hit profits of $3k per month in just 3 months time, starting June 1st.

You can guess the reason I'm asking you - yep, this is what I have to do now.

I have already created 3 niche sites and I just started making money from each one of them when they all got hit by google penalties. This is because I was naively linking to dodgy bad neighbourhood sites. Obviously I've removed the bad links and re-submitted my 3 sites, but there's no way of telling when traffic will pick up again. It could be another 3 months.

I can totally start from scratch and make 3k per month within 3 months, with a very limited budget and I know I can. But my little challenge is making a decision on what to focus on. I know that only by focusing can I generate cash fast.

It may help if I say what I can do.

- I'm a good writer who can write articles fluently in 3 languages (french, english, spanish)

- I know lots about music equipment, music making, DJ culture - niche potential

- I know lots about health especially alcohol, drugs, addictions - niche potential

- I'm a voiceover artist (when I'm not trying to build a business from IM) which is well-paid if you get enough work (and only working from home too)

As you can see, it's possible for me to hit my target if I have a positive state of mind.

My issue is: what the hell do I concentrate on? I don't have margin for error here, so I can't afford to do anything wrong. It has to be right.

The way I see it, I can either:

- create new niche sites while still writing content for the existing, penalized niche sites; I already have 5 more niches researched and ready to bust one out - BUT no guarantee that income will come in soon (will take 3 months to get decent traffic)

- propose my services to write articles in 3 different languages (can totally work, but how, where do I do this?)

- pimp out my voice like crazy and get good voiceover jobs on voices.com and other sites (only, it's not IM related for long term success, but helps me tick over until my sites get back to normal)

Any one of the above can be done with my limited budget. I just have to choose a plan that works!

With the extra experience that pros you all have next to a relative inexperienced IMer like me, what would you suggest that I concentrate on to get to my target?

Any advice at all is greatly appreciated. Thanks friends.

JR

PS. It's that or getting a dreaded corporate job again

Wow, incredibly diverse and interesting set of skills. I'm not sure you can hit $3000 in 3 months, but definitely in 6 I would bet. I just think 3 might be a short time to build the contact network you need. I would love an update in a few months just to see how you were able to best market yourself.

Will totally keep you updated through this thread and tell you how much I make. Be interested if you have any ideas on what to concentrate on. I have to decide that first, tomorrow

Well, to be honest I'm not sure what sort of market exists for foreign language IM work. I might concentrate on my voice over skills and market myself as a tutorial/video marketer. There seems to be a lot of people touting video demonstrations, and voiceover vids as new ways to convert a lot of the traffic on established sites. In my experience in the niche market game a $3000 per-month establishment will take more than 3 months to build up if you're doing it on your own.

Nothing is impossible! That is, if you concentrate enough to achieve what you're aiming for.

If it's really vital for you to hit the $3'000 mark per month in 3 months, then you need to extend your working hours and cut the "fun" things that can be done online -- Facebook, Youtube, playing games, watching movies etc.

Start working in one direction, and keep following that path. Don't quit just cause you hit a small bump in the road.

        Best of luck to you.

I don't have margin for error here, so I can't afford to do anything wrong. It has to be right.
I think that's wrong. You have to have a margin for error - there will be weeks when things don't go well due to technical problems or any of a myriad of other issues. There will also be weeks when things go better than expected.

It seems you've been at the "decision level" before and you chose to go with niche sites. You did have an "error" but that doesn't mean it was a bad decision - just means you need to change your process to some extent.

There is no need to do only one thing. You can offer writing services on freelance sites or do voice over work part time while also working on sites to build an income.

keep you updated through this thread
That may not work as it turns into a blogging thread that goes on and on and those threads are often frowned on here. Just a heads up.

You are not asking for an outlandish amount of money but you have set a tight time period. You don't know if you can do it - until you've done it. Every day you spend trying to decide what to do is a day you aren't moving forward.

List the pros and cons of every method you are considering - and pick one. Then stick with it - and learn to do it right so your eliminate potential problems as much as you can.

Your goal of $3k income in 90 days is possible - I know because I've done that amount with a new project in 90 days. You won't know if YOU can do it until you get there.

Don't over analyze - pick one or two strategies and get to work on them. Once you have achieved the goal you can change horses if you want and start again.

I think the music equipment and/or making music niches are good. You can promote all kinds of products as an affiliate: physical, digital, memberships, and software.

You can also create your own products.

          1. Research 90 keywords. Ensure a bunch (10 to 20) of them are buying keywords.
          2. Get an autoresponder and opt in form on your site. Create a cool give-away. You may have to test your opt in method for highest conversions. You can't do this until you get traffic.
          3. Write 10 excellent email messages. Schedule them 7 to 14 days apart.
          4. Write 90 killer posts for your blog targeting those keywords. That's 1 article per day. If you have time, make a video for each article.
          5. Promote each article each day - article marketing, social bookmarking, blog commenting, guest blogging, video marketing.
          6. Include about 10 to 20 preselling posts promoting a variety of products set out above (physical, digital, software, and memberships). Drive traffic from all other posts to these preselling posts. Use your buying keywords for these posts.
          7. Create your own product to sell to your list and posted for sale on your website. OR, license a quality product to sell.
That should take 3 months. Whether you're at $3K/mo. depends on your list, traffic, and ability to presell.

Then, keep doing the same - become an authority in the niche.

Thanks - great advice and what I already did with my 3 niche sites which are penalized. But I can easily find another niche within music.

I am in a similar boat. I was fired back on March 1st. I've been tinkering with Internet Marketing for about 5 months before that happened. So I decided to go with it full time to see if I could make it work. Plus we put our house on the market and we are in the process of moving once it sells. So I don't want to really get another full time job right when we're going to move.

So I've been selling my services while building sites, but haven't seen a real big growth yet on either. My services side seem to be on the verge of taking off, but nothing quite yet. And my sites, well .. they are there.

So I hope you have success with your goals. Keep me in mind if you find something that works for you! <grin> I could always learn something new.

It can take a long time to figure out what you're doing and make a decent amount of money in this business. If you really have to be making $3000/month within three months, you should probably start looking for a job too. If you get a decent job offer, take it and keep doing IM on the side until you can afford to quit and go full-time with IM.

Would anyone consider it's a good idea to be paying for traffic for my currently penalized niche sites, to boost my list while I'm not getting organic traffic?

Certainly not impossible, but a tough ask and giving yourself the extra pressure of setting your targets high.

My question would be is it possible, but I know where you have the mindset and determination to believe, achieve you will receive. Power of a positive mind and a young mind can certainly do it if staying focused. Good Luck

Yes I am aware of this, and it's the very reason I made this post in the first place.

Let's just say I hadn't made the mistake of getting my sites penalized.

Right now, I'd be getting decent traffic and starting to edge towards $500-1000 per month. I'd be getting loads of daily signups for my sites. I'd be in a far more confident position to be hitting my target in 3 months time.

As it is, I've made a mistake and have to learn from it. I'd estimate that it'll take 6-8 weeks to get out of the google penalty. During that time I can either:

      - pay for adwords traffic to replace the organic traffic (how much will it bring really?)

      - start my new niches and work like a dog on them

      - do voiceover and article writing services UNTIL my sites are released from the google penalty beeeatch

What's reassuring is that at least I have other ways to make cash.

And I appreciate people's opinions on here helping me decide what I need to concentrate on as a priority.
