From my point of view, organization is a very important part of running your business. And an organized office space is a key to success in business. An organized office is more than just an efficient work space, its a place to encourage maximum productivity.

I have a home office which is very organized. Built-in file drawers in one of the walls hold 8 years of business records, payment processing and bank statements, receipts for all business expenses, etc.

Built-in shelving holds all the paper, pens, pencils, notepads, markers, highlighters, dry-erase pens, paperclips, staples, etc. I could ever need. I stock up whenever Staples/OfficeMax has one of their free-after-rebate or coupons with no minimum spend, so I end up getting $10-20 in supplies for free at a time.

I've got a L-shaped desk set up to dock my laptop to two big LED monitors on one side, and a whiteboard above the other side. I keep it clean.

But I don't usually work out of the home office during the spring and summer. I'm out on my deck in a chaise lounge or in my sunroom if it's windy or raining. Sometimes I drive to Lake Nockamixon for the afternoon and work at the side of the lake, tethering my laptop to my cell phone over wifi.

    That's where I took this picture a few months ago -- http://www.dangrossman.info/wp-conte...ads/altima.jpg

Part of the way I can think clearly is to have things around me organized.

I think it's really a personality thing though. I had rommates in college who could sit and do homework in a bunch of mess.

To me, if other things aren't taken care of, I can't think. When everything is organized, I feel more on top of things in general.
