Well, you've come to the right place. Warrior Forum is full of people sharing ideas and if you read around here for a while, you'll start seeing some sparks that could turn into ideas.

If you learn to read between the lines, you'll also learn how to avoid some common pitfalls. Learning from someone else's mistakes is always a good thing, unfortunately when I started it was all new and I had to learn by trial and error. I've made tons of mistakes, so if you read some of my posts it might give you an idea of what to avoid.

Other than that, nobody can tell you how to be a success. You have to figure that one out on your own.

This forum is a great place to start, I wish I had found it years ago when I got started.

Everyone has different opinions, but I recommend getting really good at something and offering it as a service. Video creation/social media management/ article writing/ backlinking/ traffic generation/ etc. Pick one or two things to study and practice for a while.

Once you're good at it, offer it as a service. You could try Fiverr.com, oDesk.com, Elance.com, or even the 'Warriors for Hire' section of this forum.

This way you'll actually see money coming from your computer! It will motivate you, and you'll learn ALOT in the process which will help you when you decide to peruse your own business ventures.

Good luck and stick with it!

Whenever I hear "Where do I start", I always want to say, "At the beginning."

But seriously... what the others said. You've found one of the most valuable IM resources on the net. Just start reading and then go to work! Get all banged up. That's the way you learn.

    Good luck!

      I would suggest learning...

      1) How to create a Wordpress blog
      2) How to do keyword research (competition/ searches/ marketability)
      3) How to write compelling content that has good On-Page SEO (selling affiliate products)

      4) How to promote that content by building back links
      5) How to promote using article marketing (also building back links)

That's a good start. The more you DO the faster you'll learn of course!

Serious, that sounds like that old Clickbank e-book "How to Go Broke in 60 Days and Lose Your Mind While Doing It"...

        You forgot

6.) Max out your credit card buying lot's of e-Books from IM gurus
        7.) Drink lots of Kool-Aid

Yeah, but then there's always Shoemoney or John Chow and all the 10 to the power of infinity clones out there trying to get you to buy their program because they really don't make money doing what they say they do, they make money making newbies BELIEVE they have the answer.

          WHAT?

What are you talking about? That's a concrete list of stuff someone has to figure out to make money online.

Wordpress= FREE tool to make websites...(I WISH someone told me about Wordpress from the very beginning!)

Keyword Research- A topic one needs to know about. Whether it's for choosing domain names, choosing keywords you are going to target in your content, etc... You'll fail if you don't know about it. Period.

Writing Content- One had better know about On-Page-SEO or else Google won't even know what the page is about. The content won't rank, the content won't be SEEN, or make money, without this.

I'm not talking about "How I just sold you crap that teaches how I just sold you crap".

Back Linking- Gotta know about this. Period.

Article marketing- It's what finally got me the traffic I needed without paying for traffic . PPC was what "made ME broke in 60 days and lost my mind in the process". I wouldn't wish those times I had on anyone.
          -----

ANYWAY, please don't lump me in with bullsh*# artists you may have come in contact with in the past. There are good people out there teaching this stuff that actually DO IT. And I'm one of them.

            Welcome!

smooth and rather safe way to start working online is affiliate marketing: You promote other people's products (both physical and digital, you choose) and you make a commission every time an item is sold.

If you go for physical products you should head to Amazon and if you choose to promote digital products the biggest retailer is clickbank.

Most marketers start with digital products. If you are one of them you should create an account at Digital Products Retailer: Affiliate Program & Sell Online - ClickBank. It is free. After you have signed up, you need to go to the marketplace on this site to choose the products you will promote. You need hungry markets such as E-Business or Health and Fitness to start with. When picking a product to promote, make sure to check the gravity even more than the popularity of the product. Anything above 100 should be fine. Then, you just need to grab your affiliate link: Super easy and fast to do (just follow the buttons). :p

The tough part starts here: It's called marketing and it requires the right mindset, time, commitment and even money (if you use paid traffic methods).
A sane thought is to begin with free traffic methods (article marketing, video marketing, forums, social media etc). You will work more, but at least you will not end up broke before you blink your eyes!

If you have a small budget, you can spend $37 to enter the War Room (it is a one time fee and almost everyone is thrilled about the quantity and the quality of the content you get), anywhere from $10 to $20 to register a domain name for a full year (try godaddy), around $50 for a reliable hosting account for a full year (hostgator is a good option) and about $20 per month (first payment level) for your autoresponder, because you NEED to build a list (you could try AWeber, I think you can try the service on a buck for the first month).

Don't forget to have fun: You will make a lot more money if you love what you do. Try to promote products that you believe in, in a niche you care or know a few things about.

And of course: Take massive action! Your moto should be "earn while you learn"!

            I hope it helps!

Hi, The journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step...right ??
when you first join this community of IM there is a LOTS to learn and it seems a long road ahead, but to cut the long story short, I'd advice you to find a good " Mentor"
that way you will cut your learning curve by at least a half, having said that to a "good mentor " that's another matter.....!!!!!
Wishing all the luck in the world of IM.

I would suggest that you start with something that you are interested in and good at.

If writing is your thing then you can try article writing or blogging
If you are great with relationships, then maybe try JVs and social media etc

Get a broad overview of the kind of things you might be interested in and then spend some time learning and observing - eventually you will need to invest (time and resources) and try out stuff. I am not sure there will be overnight success so you'll need to keep positive and resilient too!

Thats the mindset stiff then you will need to get a process for executing the thing you choose. Lots of warriors here to support and render help.

    Hope this helps

Well this forum is a great place to get started.

Take your time and try and absorb as much info as you can without, feeling overwhelmed.

There are some great products here to buy but i would reccomend the war room subscription as alot of warriors give away there info for free in there.

    good luck.

First of all, think at something that you really know doing. It may be writing, programming, or selling. Than start to think at an audience for your services. Make a goal and stick with it. Usually, it's in terms of money: I want to make this amount in the first year. Then start reading by using Google and social media. For the first month I wouldn't *do* anything other than reading and getting myself soaked into this new area. Then, you can start to build a new service, step by step.

What I'm trying to say here is that it's more important what you know to do, the "hows" can be learned easily.

      Where to start?

That's far too vague of a question to answer.

You've told us nothing about you, your background, what you enjoy doing, nothing...

Not everyone starts at the same place. Your skill set, likes and dislikes would dictate where you start.

Think about your skills, time constraints and budget. Then you can start to think of a starting point that is suited to you.

First of all I would like to wish you the best of luck in your IM career....

I think a great way to get started is to spend even a whole week reading different posts and answers in this very forum!

First of all it will seem like a complete overload of information but as you begin to grasp what is being talked about other you'll get more confident and certain paths that you will be interested in will begin to emerge

You only fail in this business when you give up....

Focus on acquiring new skills rather than making money right away. The one skill that is always in demand is writing (content writing, article writing, and copywriting). Once you have this skill under your belt, offer this service to this forum and other places. You can make a good income from this one skill alone.

When you have money coming in consistently, you can learn a new skill like how to build wordpress blogs and then eventually, SEO skills, backlink building, etc., etc....

Don't be in a hurry to make money right away, it will lead to a lot of frustration. Just be great at doing one thing at a time and before you know it, you will be making money online.

Starting an Internet Marketing business is like starting any other business. It takes a lot of hard work and determination and the right mind set. You can have it if you really want it. Just know that it will require a ton of work and patience and persistence. There are no shortcuts to making money online. I am speaking from my own experience.

Be careful about spending a lot of money trying to get some shortcuts. I spent $3K right off the bat thinking that it will help me skip the learning curve. It did not and I lost that $3K in a hurry. It was a really hard lesson to learn but I am glad I did not quit.

Good luck and enjoy the journey.

My suggestion would be to find a method of making starter money (nothing serious, $100 - $200). While you earn that, spend some time picking and learning 1 working method (affiliate marketing and list building is suggested).

Use the starter money that you earned to purchase a domain, hosting, and a subscription to aweber (or any other list building program)

After that it just takes patience and time and alot of learning.

The WF is very helpful, but it can also be very confusing. Already in this thread, I'm seeing good, well-intentioned advice which can confuse more than help.

Learning WordPress and keyword research is great advice, but still jumping too far ahead if you're completely brand new with NO idea where to start. It's way too easy to get bogged down in this type of "busy work" with no return on your efforts.

Clarity is a huge part of IM success.

Here is some information I wish people had told me when I first started in IM:

Before you get started, carefully consider/choose your business model.

IM is actually pretty simple: you can sell only one of two things:

      1. Products
      2. Services

      That's it!

And selling products or services online happens in the same basic way for everyone, no matter what they're selling:

      Traffic > Opt-in page > Autoresponder series (or e-zine) > Sales page

That's it! It's just that simple. (We IMers tend to overcomplicate things.)

But no matter what your niche is, or whether you're selling a product or a service, do you know what your business model is?

A business model is the framework or skeleton of your business. Essentially there are three types of online business models:

      1. Membership-based model

A membership-based business model allows you to build a community of people (your members) who are as passionate about your subject as you are. Your membership fees can be monthly or annual, but either way, you're building recurring, passive income.

There are a lot of resources and information out there to help you build a membership-based business if you're interested in doing this.

      2. Product-based model

Selling products allows you to maximize your time and effort by selling items over and over again. This can be hard goods or it can be information products. Information marketing is it's own business model under the product-based model. Information marketing allows you to take your brain to the bank by creating a product ONCE based on what you know and selling it over and over again.

I see someone has already recommended affiliate marketing. You can choose to market either products or services as an affiliate.

      3. Service-based model

Selling services can be great for 1) generating quick cash (as in the case of article writing or video producing) and 2) establishing your expertise and getting testimonials.

However, in the long run, your goal should be to offer services at a PREMIUM. The biggest advantage of IM is LEVERAGE. You're able to leverage your time, money and expertise exponentially online. We all have just 24 hours each day. Time to get ruthless about what you expect for those hours you spend in IM each day. Expect more of yourself and more from your business friends, clients, partners, etc.

What results are you getting for those hours you spend online each day? Ultimately, your services should be at the bottom of your funnel and cost the most since they involve your time and personal attention. (We all have a limited amount of time each day.)

The fun (and confusion) comes in with all of the endless mix-and-match possibilities of the above models. If you're just starting or still struggling to make money, keep it simple:

      Pick just ONE!

      1. Pick ONE niche. (Something you're interested in and know something about.)

      2. Pick ONE target market for your product or service. (Who will buy what you're offering? The more specific you are, the more you narrow it down, the more successful you'll be.)

      3. Pick ONE business model.

Now that you're clear about what business you're in, FOCUS!

      F -- Follow
      O -- One
      C -- Course
      U -- Until
      S -- Successful

In IM, it's easy to put the cart before the horse. Take a deep breath, step back and consider what type of business you're REALLY want. Don't worry about getting traffic or buying that expensive traffic product until you know 1) what your business model is, 2) what niche you're in and 3) WHO your target market is!

Once you know these things, THEN you're ready to learn WordPress, keyword research and all the rest. Honing in on the above areas BEFORE you dive into them will save you a lot of time and grief.

In the beginning, it can be hard to know exactly what you want to do/what niche you want to focus on. That's ok. Pick one you think you might be interested in and go from there. You can always switch later.

Two of the fastest ways to get your feet wet and generate some money are to 1) market someone else's product (as an affiliate) or 2) offer services. So pick a niche/market you're interested in and either market a product/service as an affiliate or offer services to that market to test it out. You'll quickly find out whether you want to pursue it further.

Successful business people will tell you that MARKETING is more than half the effort that's needed for success anyway. So pick a niche, target market and business model. Then spend most of your time and effort marketing it.

      Hope this helps!

I would become more familiar with wordpress and how it works. Buy a domain (preferably an exact match domain - look up why on this site) and hosting (Host Gator is friendly for newbies - good customer service in my opinion) and build a site with wordpress. Then learn how to get it to rank (this will take time).

This website is filled with information to help you with each of those steps. I recommend you spend a month or two just reading, reading and reading until you get comfortable with what's going on around here and the techniques we use. Focus on one thing at a time and be patient. People link "internet" to "instant" for everything. That may be true for surfing the web (in most cases) but it certainly isn't true for internet marketing/affiliate marketing.

    Good luck...

Make a site read guides free or paid for and follow them step by step to the end. Many people make the mistake of grabbing a bunch of guides and not finishing any of them. The biggest thing is it takes real work to make IM work for you, if that makes any sense.

If your super new, and have no idea where to start, I would take a look at the Warrior Special Offer forum and search for products teaching different online money making techniques. In addition, remember to look through user comments to determine if its worthwhile buying.

I would also remember not to get overwhelmed, making money online is simple in principle and hard in reality. So don't let the concept get you turned around, it just takes hard work, so quit now if your not prepared to give it at least 6 months to a year.

The concept of making money online is this, monetize online content and drive traffic to it, simple. Now just work out how you want to achieve this, do you want to participate in affiliate marketing, Adsense, production creation, online service, product (Storefront) reseller, etc.

Goodluck, and PM if need anything.
