Site Setup - First post

Hey guys, I've been lurking the forums for quite some time now, but I've finally decided that it was time to make my first post.

I have a dilemma with my first site. It was created by an outsourcer, and not very SEO friendly. It doesn't have much of a content management system either so it's hard to add new content.

Anyway, let's say I run a marketplace that connects apple grower's with apple buyers. The problem is no apple buyers want to list their farm since no one is buying apples from my site. And it's hard to get buyers to buy apples from the site because there are no farmers selling apples.

So, failure is not an option, just an obstacle along my path to success. I've been trying to find a way to make this work and came upon the fact that I could make more money by collecting people's names that want to buy apples and then selling that to the farmers in their area.

So my questions are:

1. Should I move my farmers market to a subdomain and create a landing page that captures the info and automatically post to the database in my subdomain?
2. Should I create new webpages where I can optimize for the exact keywords I am looking for for each Farm and refer these to my old homepage? This way I could geotarget...

I currently have roughly 500 visitors a month with a 85% bounce rate. I run a farmer's market template that has been customized by my web developer, but it cripples my ability to upgrade software. I'm thinking if I move it to the subdomain, I will erase the developer's template and use the ones that came with the software. Lastly I have quite a bit of unique content that drives traffic. I would like to move this to a content management system so I can play with it more easily.

WOw... sorry for the long post, but any suggestions, comments, etc.??

Thanks!
