ONLY 1? Are You Kidding Me?

Hey Folks,

Paypal states you can only have 1 paypal account during your lifetime. This means if someone ruins it(ex wife possibly), you cannot do it again. Any work arounds folks? Any way to explain to them. This happened to me in 2002 and I have always had to take on a partner to use paypal. They reap all my same benefits for doing NOTHING.

Thanks,

Stay Golden,

    Hi their,

As long as I know paypal does allow you to have multiply accounts but with different address. For example you can have one with your work address and one at your home address.

I and my family, Everyone of us is holding a paypal account. Since I am living in a well police country (UK) I never had any problems about that.

BTW: Where did you see that paypal states you can have only one paypal account ? Can you give me link

LOL! there are maaaany ways to expliot PP, the most basic legal one is
just open multi PP accounts with diff email addresses and just dont verify
them with a credit card.. from what I know you can send(and/or(not sure) recive)
up to $2,000 until u have to activate it

If they don't allow it.. try opening a Malasia PP account, there u dun need a credit card xP

    Hi,

The last time I checked with PayPal and that was almost a year ago, you are correct in stating the one account rule. Of course you can still have a personal account and a premier OR Business account. The personal account won't do you much good because of the limits and restrictions.

Depending on what happened to your old account you should be able to open another one ONCE the old account is deleted. Of course there are reasons for which they will never let you come back.

One thing I've found and I seem to be the lone voice on this sometimes, however, I've found that there are people at PayPal who will talk to you and help you if you just explain the facts to them.

Wow! Loads of replys on this. I did not know this. What happens if you verify everything but not your s.s.# and then one day they want you to verify your S.S.# and the system states you already have an acct with that s.s.# that they limited 6 years ago due to a bad divorce and going out of business with a few chargbacks that aggrivated things? Paypal was new back then and it was tougher to stay within their protocols back then when you got an arrogant rep.

    Thanks,

I've never heard of them forcing anyone to verify with an SSN- that's just one of several ways to verify.

If you create a company, such as a corp or LLC, it would have its own tax ID and could get its own Paypal account, and your previous history with them shouldn't matter. Of course don't use the same credit card.

Problem with PP and multiple accounts,is they save EVERYTHING. If you have EVER used a bank account number, CC number, or email addy with them for any other account, current or not, it's dead- you won't be able to use it again...ever.

That means every PP account has to be linked to a Different Bank account number, email account, etc. That's the only real problem.

They could care less about TIN numbers. That's out of their bailiwick (at least for now).

But, for me at least, the problem has been the bank accounts. I don't let a huge amount sit in a PP account for very long, as they can be tricky, so you MUST have a verified account hooked up to transfer out to, or you run a very real risk of losing control of your funds due to some of their more persnickety methods.

And that means you need a NEW bank account number for EACH PP account, which isn't the norm for most marketers. I have all my business under the umbrella of a C-Class Corporation, so it's easy to open a new account, just costs me a little fee every month...but the payback in risk management is worth it to me.

        Just my thoughts...hope this helps!

I believe what they do is this. You can have multiple accounts... they just can't be tied to the same checking or savings account. They couldn't use name and address to identify an account... otherwise you could have some common name mixups like John Smith living at the same house in 2 different time frames. So they use the financial information to verify it.

They haven't started with the SSN stuff yet... but they will within the next year or so due to the IRS cracking down on folks not reporting PayPal income. It will be voluntary for a while, and eventually once IRS rules take effect it will be mandatory.

In the end, the best course of action is to call PayPal. They are always very helpful when I call with a question.

            A Caveat here Dennis:

PP allows one personal and ONE business account ONLY- that's directly from their TOS. If you want multiples, you have to game them.

You can have one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. You can add more email addresses, debit or credit cards, and bank accounts to your account, but each account must have it's own email address and financial information. You can also upgrade your Personal account to a Premier or Business account.

Ok. Gotcha. Haven't read their TOS in a while. I guess the OP could use a friend or relatives address, that doesn't need the use of a PayPal acct. Or he could use another processor like 2checkout.

If you delete the old PP account, you can use that same checking account that was tied to it on another PP account. From experience...
