Completely changing my website ???
I have operated a website called aussielook.com for the past three years. Have dedicated very little time to it but am about to dive into a joint venture to make a massive website out of it. The site has good ranking for some searches to do with the word Aussie and Australia. My question is I have just registered the website name aussielook.com.au mainly to protect the brand. I was just going to use that site as a landing page which they would just be redirected to aussielook.com. If I change the name of the site and brand to aussielook.com.au but have that sitting on aussielook.com domain is this bad practice?
Should I take down the current site and move onto the new domain and use aussielook.com to redirect the traffic to the site? The new site is a completely different design but has some of the same pages that may be getting picked up by google so I do not want to damage the footing I have gained with google.
Any Advice would be great.
