I have a new website idea that could be as big as FB, YT, etc

I have an idea for a website that might be as powerful as Facebook, Youtube, etc.

It is a social media type of website, but with a twist. In fact, I've never seen anything like it at all on the web.

Ok Warriors here's where I need your help. I want to share my idea with some of you, but I don't want to leak it out and be empty handed.

I need your help so that this can be a success.

My first bit of advice? Don't treat your idea like it's top secret. Odds are overwhelmingly high no one will think it's worth stealing, and even if they do, they probably won't bother. But even if they did, there's no way they can take all of the pie, so to speak.

Second, not to be harsh, but no one here cares that you have the next big idea. We all have ideas, but ideas aren't worth anything. Having a great idea is a far cry from having a successful business. Most of us (who are making money) prefer tried and proven methods of making money rather than "the next big thing", anyway.

Third, there's no way we can help you if you won't tell us what you're doing, or what you need help with. So out with it. What's this big idea, and what do you need help with?

I came up with an idea for a physical product a couple of weeks ago. It's a novelty/practical product that I'm sure would fly with some backing. I know the domains aren’t taken. Anyone got a coupe of million they aren't using?

And ideas without millions of dollars of capital.....

Not to mention youtube and facebook didn't have any business model the first few years.

Send me a PM, and NDA if you are serious. If I like what I see we can go from there.

I agree that there are so many ideas but there is no use if you don't take action. Sure everyone wants tested and tried methods yet even the simplest methods don't work for some people. You could go get a job which is the easy way out or follow your passionate idea, your choice!

Here's something you've gotta keep in mind. If you launch something that's actually that good. Facebook, Google, or another "giant" is going to clone your idea and have millions of dollars to market the crap out of it. Not to mention millions / billions of dollars to develop the idea further (at lighting speed).

That's my cousin talking above. He's been involved in a few successful start-ups and has a friends in the "social media world".

His suggestion was that if I wanted to "move forward" that we should basically create a mock up and start talking with potential investors in the social media world.

Obviously execution is more important than the idea, but I know what it's like to have (what you think is) a great idea that you don't want to publicize.

If you'd like one man's opinion/advice on how to proceed, then you can DM me here or on Twitter. (Not sure if I can receive DMs here w/<50 posts.)

I've had a few successful exits (as in being acquired by public companies, not "Flippa" or whatever), raised angel/VC money, have good contacts in Silicon Valley, 20 year tech background, etc.
