Question re Facebook fanpages - Does anyone care?

Hi guys,

Taking internet marketers out of the equation do you think anyone cares about Facebook fanpages by this I mean local businesses etc?

I get the feeling that people go onto Facebook just to use Facebook and nothing else, maybe play a game etc so whilst we are all making a song and dance about fanpages no one lese is.

Does anyone know if there are any stats to back fanpages work?

What does anyone think?

    great point, i've been making or managing these pages for local business and i ask myself the same question.."why am I doing this? is it worth it?"

    But I guess a benefit would be - people are checking their facebook accounts a lot more often than they go to your website. So if you get someone to "Like" your business by strategically posting a like button somewhere on your site, you can often remind them about your company or new promotions etc. via FB pretty easily..
