new "hackersafe" logo sucks...

Hey Guys -

What are your thoughts of moving from "HackerSafe" to "McAfee Secure" on their logos? I loved the old logos.

I got this from McAfee about my account last week:

=================
McAfee SECURE Benefits

Converts even better than Hacker Safe!
• Designed to outperform Hacker Safe. In A/B tests involving millions of shoppers, it outperformed Hacker Safe by an average of 2%, with some sites seeing as much as 6% higher sales
=================

Anyone else tested this yet? I can't imagine it increasing conversion.

Thanks

    Well, I always thought that "hacker" safe was stupid because it introduced the idea of "hacking" into prospects' minds when it was probably not there before.

    Sort of like saying, "oh by the way, this car will absolutely NOT explode into flames!"

    I think McAfee is a pretty well recognized brand name now and is a little more benign than "hacker safe".

    All that really matters though is conversion rate, they claim it is higher...who knows?

      Not to mention the brand recognition that McAfee has with a high percentage of the personal computing population.

      Initially I thought it was a bad move, but after thinking about it, I think they may be on to something. And evidently they have tested it. But as Russell said, it would be great to have some real world test results from fellow Warriors.

      If anybody has tested it, I'm guessing it would be Eric Grahm from www.conversiondoctor.com.

        I don't know. My past experiences with McAfee was so bad, if I saw McAfee's logo on a site proclaiming it's safe, I'm tempted to run away.

        Where I come from friends don't let friends use McAfee.

          Russ..

          Hows things?..

          The word hacker..IMO... brings negative energy to the table when it wouldn't have been in place, and whilst it is reassuring of the fact.. it is also raising the issue before it is even there... when really McAfee Secure displays security of "something" and secure is good...

          To see the word hacker brings home what it is actually addressing..

          Just my .02 and worth every penny

    One of my client's sites outperformed the original by a few %. On the other hand I had two sites that dropped because of it.

    Looks like different markets respond differently to the change...

    No such thing as "hacker safe"

    They probably had to change it because it is a lie
