A question about Paypal disputes - Can a website request back a payment made in error?

Hi. I received a strange message from a certain website that sends me payments. They were saying that they sent me payments in error and I should return them. I'm not going to demoralize this website anyway, but I told them that I didn't notice their mistake, I had many other payments at the same time, and I was not obliged to correct their mistakes. I don't know if what they are saying is really right.

Can they make a dispute against me through Paypal and request the money they had sent me 'in error' back?

I told them that I was shocked for seeing that such a named website makes 'payments in error'. Perhaps they don't pay what they have to, besides don't knowing what they are doing if they make such mistakes.

Do you have any experience about this matter?

Thank you!

I don't see what is so shocking about it. I made such an error just the other day. I had numerous sites open in my browser and was looking for PLR. I accidentally purchased the wrong one ... not the one that I had intended.

Fortunately, the seller was from WF and we know each other ... I emailed her and was refunded promptly. Wasn't a problem to her and she knew that I didn't need her product because we sell a similar product.

Just refund them. They will file a dispute most likely if you don't.

Did they give the details of the "overpayment"? That's what I would ask for and then I'd research it. If there was an "overpayment" I'd refund it.

It might be an attempt to get a refund on a product that doesn't have a refund - but it could be a payment that was in error.

If I made a mistake on a payment and got that response, it would be the last payment you'd see from me.

If you are running a business you check it out - ask for details and decide based on the merits. I don't see any other way to approach it.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

Thank you for your answers. I’m going to wait and see what will happen. I don’t have time to care about their mistakes. They must prove what they have said.
