Aweber vs. GetResponse...What's your take?

personally I use Aweber in the past but find it more expensive. So now I am using GR.

And personally there is nothing different between these 2, it is just that GR is cheaper of paid for 12 months straight.

  I've used both and still have accounts with both but GR is where I run all my new lists out of. I would choose GR over aweber- but that's just my personal experience.

  I use GetResponse. However, I have no experience with AWeber. I did do some research before picking GR, and felt that it was best for my initial use -- because it was free!
  
  Now that I have subscribers to deliver content to on a regular basis, I find it relatively easy to use. Pay the full year's fee and you end up with a first-class third-party autoresponder for about $12 US a month...

  I've used GetResponse for over four years now and found that it has all the features that I need, it is pretty easy to use and the price is good.
  
  I have also heard lots of good feedback about AWeber but I haven't had any reason to switch over. I'd be interested to hear what the features are that AWeber has that GR does not though.

  A key issue that you should look at is restrictions on importing emails, Aweber was terrible, not sure what they do now.
  
  After that review I moved to icontact. Its very very good and we have used its API do do some very sophisticated things. On the surface it seems expenses, but in fact the their affiliate program will pay for it. They have your affiliate link in the footer of all your emails and have recurring commission. Over time these commissions start to pay for more than the cost of the service.

  I think both are good. So, for me, it came down to which control panel I found it easier to use. But that was back before Aweber's changed their prices. Now, I'd probably choose GetResponse.

  Just getting back into the game after a much needed break - Does anyone have any experience with TotalMarketer.com? Pricewise its about the same as GR, but seems to have so many other useful features.

*Aweber. I think it's 10K limit not 500 - forget though. Anyway, I look after clients that use both, and I have access to both on a regular.

* Functionality and navigation - Aweber just makes it 'easy' and stupid proof - I'm an 11 year veteran and getresponse still leaves me scratching my head in some corners...

* Delivery rate is better via aweber (grapevine anyway - can't quantify with my use).

* Aweber has a limiter/gage that tells you how close your message is getting to the 'spam' level as you add more text/pics/links/ etc. - It's a great little feature that maximizes delivery rates and protects you a bit.

* Putting together forms and altering them etc. is a piece of cake w/aweber - and even though you can remove the link manually - Get Response generates code with a "Form By GetResponse which links out - seems harmless but that's a disctraction and exit for important parts of your site, aweber leaves it clean and offers you two versions of code (I don't remember if GR does both versions ((java/nonjava)))).

* Other than that - it's just whatever a person gabs first and starts to learn - I'd say aweber is a 5star and GR is a 4.75star solution.

The biggest difference I found, and the reason I went with GetResponse, is that they're MUCH more accommodating for people who want to automatically add their customers to their mailing list.

Aweber offer their own Email Parsing service, but doesn't allow automatic signups from self-hosted scripts.

There are a few scripts around that do some things to make it borderline legal, but instead of walking the fine line, I'd much rather go with a company that wholeheartedly accepts and offers automatic customer signups.

When you look at the automation of internet businesses these days, automatic customer mailing list signups is quite a basic requirement.

GetResponse do it well. Aweber aren't interested in offering this.

That's what made my decision.

  I used EmailAces for a few years, and still have an account there.
  
  I had no problems with them - Gary The Ace is part of this forum, the owner, and he runs a good system.
  
  I DID have a couple of the support staff treat me like an idiot a couple of times, though, which isn't pleasent - especially when I was right
  
  It doesn't offer as many features as GR or Aweber, though, but the basic package is also pretty cheap.
  
  I'd just look at the features and decide which is best for you.

Has anyone used Awebers new analytical features? I know that a lot of people will say that you can install Google Analytics on your web page to get the same results, but what I was wondering has anyone tested out the ability to only email the people that didn't open your first message.

I use to have Aweber for a year or so and then I canceled. Now I get to join for the new price.

I was thinking of going with GetResponse. The only thing I like about Aweber is potentially using their new features. I thought about maybe joining a private reseller of Awebers to get the original pricing. That way if I decide to go with Awebers new features I can move my account over to Aweber themselves and pay for the new features.

Any thoughts on this? I hope I didn't provide a question that deters from Lance's original question. I just know there are lots of threads like this and I didn't want to create a new one that could be answered in a thread that already exist.

They are 2 different things. Google can't tell you things about your email campaign.

I pulled this thread up after doing a search on Aweber vs. GetResponse. After reading all the post and going to all three web sites (Including EmailAces) I decided on EmailAces. I tried to order and got this:

Autoresponder - Email Aces Autoresponders uses an invalid security certificate

I could not order.

I know Gary Ambrose is a member here but as they say the devil is in the details and this is a BIG detail.

My point is when trying to decide on multiple options, check ALL the options and then you can make a truly informed decision

I use GetResponse it works fine for me and I find it really easy to manage campaigns. I haven't used Aweber, but I suppose there wouldn't be any major advantages.

Hi,

I have several clients that use Aweber and I am not impressed by their services. The last few months there has been unannounced downtime, the control panel can be a bit quirky, sign up confirmation can be slow and sometimes the javscript for forms stops working.

The most irritating part is the chat support...

"Hi, I am having some issues here"

"Everything seems to be working fine here, clear your cache, restart your browser, blah, blah, blah"

Since the last upgrades they did, the quality of service has gone downhill.

Like I said, not impressed.

Only Aweber (I use Profollow, an Aweber reseller with the older, better pricing-model) has easy integration with third-party software like shopping carts (Paypal, Google Checkout, etc.).

Getresponse doesn't have any third-party software integration. You can verify this in their forums under "feature requests" updated January 2009.

This question seems to be so common ( I thin kI asked the same one a while back)... however although I cannot give a fair judgment (hgaving not tried them both), I would have to say I am totally happy with Aweber at the moment.

AWeber is not.

Aweber has better functionality and interface though.
