Facebook Advertising Question

INTERNET MARKETING

How are people making money with this? I've tried running an email submit, but it costs me $5.00 to make 1.50. I've also tried CPM and gotten basically the same results. With the cpc test i got 6 clicks and 1 convert, but that 1 convert cost me 5.00. My offer is converting, I just don't see how I could ever make a profit that way. Any advice would be appreciated.

Try and persue free traffic generation techniques first. PPC advertising, be it on facebook or adwords, is difficult to get going and you can lose a lot of money that way.

  Tighten up the targeting of the ad. Use Quantcast to get the demo info the top three competitor sites, or related sites, and make sure you test those thresholds. Like all PPC, you need to test everything. Pictures are HUGE for Facebook ads, so start with 10 different ads, all the same ad, but with different pictures. Then test headlines...then test copy.
  
  Two other tips...bid $.03 above the lowest suggested bid (for good ads), but start at 50% lower than the lowest suggested for "test ads."
  
  Never pause a "good ad," instead lower your bid way low so at least your working ads are in rotation and you don't have to build back up momentum once you "turn it back up."
