Hi Everyone,

When I google my website a small veri-sign logo appears to give you an idea here's the official website: Get VeriSign Trust Seal and VeriSign SSL Certificates from VeriSign, Inc.

Now I see some people have the logo on there websites and veri-sign claims it improves opt-in rates.

If I want to display the logo on my site (just the logo no toolbar) do I have to pay?

Many thanks,

Sam

Most likely, yes: "Note: You must purchase a VeriSign SSL Certificate or the VeriSign Trust Seal before installing the VeriSign seal."

    Apollo-Articles,

First of all, it is impossible to even attempt without breaking several laws, and they could get your site shut down, and/or sue you for trademark infringement, copyright infringment, fraud, and related things. It seems SMALL to YOU, but people have to TRUST them to get a PENNY! And they charge a LOT for the privilege. So your saving $300/year COULD, conceivably, cost them their whole business.

Of course, the only way to even get it to seem to work is to use a bug(that I think may STILL be in various browsers). And for WHAT? To try to get some to believe that you are using a Verisign cert, or that verisign has certified your site is clean? BTW THE cert is near impossible to fake! MAYBE someone has code to imitate it, but apparently it isn't widely known. One click, and they can PROVE you aren't using a Verisign cert.

SO, you would try to avoid a charge of a few hundred to open you up to charges of a LOT more?

    Thanks for the answers.

Steve you seemed to have approached your answer as if I am trying to do something illegitimate.

Just to confirm I haven't and never intended on putting the veri-logo up on my site without paying. I was simply confused by the site and thought best to ask the question first.

I am not and will not be one of those marketers.

    Thanks for the confirmation Dan.

To confirm there is no free version of the veri-sign logo.

      Sam,

I can tell you first hand that trust seal providers have tools and resources in place to monitor abuse of their trademarked images. They have to. The Integrity of their service is completely based on only allowing websites they have verified to display their seal of approval.

Glad to hear you're not one of those marketers. Visitors are becoming more keen these days and using a static image instead of the actual dynamic trust seal could decrease conversion faster than it would ever help you increase it.

It all comes down to ROI. If you're traffic is less than a hundred visits/mo, your product or service is super cheap, it may not be right for you. But, if you've got decent traffic and a decently priced offer, it doesn't make sense to not invest in trust seals.

I'm confused. Why would you be able to display the logo on your website if you are not using their services? That would be misleading your visitors AND also infringing on VeriSigns trademark.
