I had posted this on another forum once, guess it would be great if I posted it here too:

Since a lot of people have been asking about ways to getting indexed fast, I thought of putting up this guide. Not only will these strategies help you to get indexed within 24 hours, but will also get you a good amount of traffic, and most importantly, will increase your search rankings. Please note that all of the methods below are free to use & readily available.

A) Social Bookmarking

This is one of the most easiest and effective ways of getting indexed in less than 24 hours. A practically new website was indexed in just 3 hours once using these techniques. Needless to say, I do it everytime I launch a new website. Infact, if the competition is less, I get top-rankings for my keyword too!

1) DIGG

Submit your site to Digg.

2) STUMBLEUPON

If you haven't already, join StumbleUpon and Download their toolbar. After registering, go to the page you want to stumble, and click "I like it!" on the SU toolbar.

Also, while stumbling the URL, try adding as many tags as you can.

3) PROPELLER

Submit your URL to Propeller.

4) OTHER SITES:

There are plenty of other sites that you may want to use for building more backlinks. The above 4 being the most important, these ones are optional. Most of them are not exactly social bookmarking sites, but I use them nevertheless:

1) Hub Pages

2) Squidoo

3) Reddit

PS: If you just do the first 3, you'll be well off and your website will be indexed within 24 hours. However, you can use other sites to build your backlinks and generate traffic!

B) Blog & Ping

Blog & Ping is an effective method if you have new content posted on your blog. Only do this once a day MAX till your site gets indexed - overdo it, and you risk getting penalized by Google. This is mainly for Blogs only, however other website owners can use it too.

For Blogs:

Most of the blog platforms nowadays ping your blog automatically after a new post is made. However, if you use WordPress, you can update your ping-list for optimum performance.

1) Go to Settings > Writing in your WP platform. Scroll down, and under "Update Services", enter the following URL's:

Code:
http://1470.net/api/ping
http://api.feedster.com/ping
http://api.moreover.com/ping

Now, everytime you post a new content on your site, your site will be automatically pinged with the above services - attracting hungry search engine bots!

For website owners with no RSS feed / Blogger blogs:

1) Go to PingGoat and fill up the Title/URL form. Select all "General", "Non-english" & "Specialized" services. If you don't have an RSS feed, it doesn't matter - however its recommended that you get one.

2) Click "Send Ping" & you'll get a confirmation message from each of the services.

C) Submit your SiteMap to Google Webmaster Tools (optional)

Submitting a sitemap can facilitate indexing.

1) Download this Free Site Map Generator.

2) After installing it, enter your URL and click Start.

3) Click the Tab "Google Sitemap / XML" & save the file.

4) Go to Google Webmaster Tools, add & verify your site. Finally, add a sitemap by click "Sitemaps" in the sidebar.

D) More Strategies:

Some extra strategies are outlined here:

a) Add other users as friends in social bookmarking sites.

This strategy is effective in the long-term. When you post a story, you can share it with your friends. The only reason we do this is because, more the friends, more your chances of getting more digg/stumbles/propels etc. Good amount of diggs give good exposure to your story, and get cached in the SE's faster.

b) Use Digg/Stumble/Propel exchanges (GreyHat Method):

There are many Social Bookmark Exchanges out there that can help your story to get more exposure thus speeding up the index process. The simple funda is that, you digg/stumble/propel others, and others do it for you.

c) Pinging

i) For DIGG

Go to PingGoat, and enter the details as follows:

i) Blog Name

The title of your website / Anything will do - doesn't make a difference.

ii) Blog Home Page

Your Digg profile page. Normally located at
Code:
digg.com/users/YOUR-USER-NAME
iii) RSS URL

Your Digg profile's RSS Feed is located at:
Code:
http://digg.com/users/YOUR-USER-NAME/history.rss
Don't forget to replace your username in the above URL's.

ii) For StumbleUpon

Go to your profile in SU, normally located at:

Code:
http://USERNAME.stumbleupon.com
Get the URL feed of your favorites, located in the right sidebar of your blog.

Ping it following the steps above.

iii) For Propel

You can get the RSS URL by adding "/rss" after your story URL. Also, a powerful strategy is to ping your tags.

iv) Make a free Wordpress / Blogspot blog linking back to your main site:

Like the title suggests, make a blog with any of the free platforms available, submit some content and information about your site, and make it link back to you. They are pinged automatically so you don't need to worry.

***************************

Almost all of my sites are normally indexed in 20-24 hours after following the above steps. Like I mentioned above, one of my new website's got indexed in just 3 hours using these simple methods. As stated above, these strategies also help in building your backlinks, and bring in a good chunk of traffic to your site - especially StumbleUpon.
If you think there's anything missing in this guide, feel free to post here.

Wow! I had assumed that WP just took care of the whole thing. I guess that's because I never really sat down and looked into the whole "ping" thing. Thanks for the list and for the instructions. On my dashboard, it wasn't Options=>Writing, it was Settings=>Writing. (Just in case someone can't find it.)

getting indexed in google is as easy as dropping a link here or any other bigger forum. If i drop a blog link here you can 100% bet it will appear in Google withing a few hours.
