Permalinks are not working, how to fix?

Hello Warriors,

This is my first time to encounter a permalink problem.

If I change to default permalink, everything works fine, however if I select the custom structure and add this, %postname% , that's the problem now. If I am going to view one of my pages, I will be seeing an error page.

I have read somewhere that I have to upload an .htaccess file with additional codes but, I can't see that file on my server after I have uploaded it, it seems like it will just disappear.

Could this problem has something to do with our web hosting?

What are the other solutions for this?

Thanks,
MagicLouie

When you change the permalink structure in the admin area, are there any errors at the bottom of the page after saving?

'Seeing an error page' takes in a lot of territory. What does the error page say?

This is the error message Steve,

      "Page not found

The page you requested was not found on this web server. This could be for a variety of reasons, including:
You followed a broken or out-of-date link.
You entered the URL for the page incorrectly.
      The page no longer exists.
If you followed a broken link, please inform the owner of the referring page.
If you have any queries about this error, please e-mail webmaster@broadwaterthoroughbreds.com.au."

But when I change the permalink back to default, everything works fine.

It's so strange because the page that I viewed does exist.
