New to internet marketing!

Hello! David here. I'm a 15 year old boy who is new to internet marketing. I am willing to learn and work. I need money. I have no other source of income and I am going to high school next school year. My parents won't be able to give me money as they need money to pay bills and other stuff. I decided to give it a try. I already decided to use ClickBank as my affiliate network. Now I need some sort of guides how to start and sucessfully promote. I can't afford to buy anything yet so I would really appriciate if someone could give me some free material to learn from. Thank you.

You already have the free information, but you'll have to do the work and read it. This entire forum is full of valuable free information.

There is plenty of free info in this forum. In the WSO section you can find several free WSO’s. Some of them are related to affiliate marketing. You may also post your questions here and there will be someone to answer your questions quickly. I wish you success.

And I still believe that you have to invest. If you can't even afford web hosting, it will be extremely tough.
Overlooking the legal stuff, I'd do freelancing until I earned around 50-100 bucks to invest.

Or he can go with blogger. It cost $10 to buy the domain for a year and the hosting is free for a lifetime. I've been doing that for years. Works like a charm. All he needs is 10 bucks...

Being unable to afford web-hosting isn't such a barrier, considering that you can get a free, fully functional hosting account through Byet Host.

Admittedly, that still leaves a domain-name (and I'd advise getting a "proper one" - not a free .co.cc subdomain or something, which are, in my opinion, kind of naff-sounding and potentially less secure), but they can be registered so cheaply as not to be much of a burden.

It's not such a good idea at all to go with Blogger. As a few members here regularly point out, they have a habit of interpreting their own ToS somewhat inconsistently and it's not uncommon for people to discover that their blogs have been deleted without prior warning, subsequent explanation, and absolutely no recourse whatsoever. You've been warned, anyway.

I was speaking from experience. I've been using it for years. The only time I had a problem with blogger is when I embeded a tv show episode to my site (copyright infringement). They took the post down, which was pretty fair and understanding. I don't see what people have against blogger.

It's pretty newbie friendly, easy to use to create something with a professional look. And it's only 10 bucks per year...

I have nothing against Blogger, except that I would rather own my site than have someone else own it-even though I'm sure many people have no problem. But if you tangle with the owners, who do you think would lose?

Given that getting your own hosting is one of the most ridiculous bargains around, I say just spring for it instead of going the dirt cheap route-less than $10 a month isn't bad to have your own network of sites online that you're in control of-even host other people's if you like. Heck, you could host two friends' sites for $3 each and have your hosting paid for. I just don't think it's wise to cheap out on something that's so valuable, so central to your biz, that can grow as you do, has incredible support, and is such an unreal bargain.

The support alone from Hostgator has meant that for my $6, there have been months when I got "personal coaching" to see me through my technophobic confusion for probably $1.00 an hour-it will probably take them years to make a dollar of profit on my account. The support is worth paying for even if they gave you the bandwidth alone for free. I don't think Blogger has a 24/7/365 support team like Hostgator (and Godaddy, and probably other hosting companies) that is rarely more than a 2-3 minute call away, and often I get right through within a couple seconds when I call. It might be the only IM bargain even better than the warroom.

I have a few questions for you RupDavid. Do you have webhosting and a domain name? Do you know how to get these started? Have you thought about what niche you are going to persue? Have you looked at what a niche is and which ones are profitable? Hopefully these questions will give you some ideas where to start your search on here and google. Good luck.

Welcome to the forums David! You are at the PERFECT age to get started. I have a few words of wisdom for you.

    1. Don't try to figure everything out before doing anything. You are going to realize that there is too much information to try to learn everything. If you try to flood your head with 10 different ideas right away, then you will overwhelmed with information. Once you are flooded with information, you'll try to do 10 things at once! In some ways, ignorance is great because your mind is not going to be spinning with 103 ways to make money.
    2. Just spend a little time learning a few basic terms and start working. Find a simple plan and stick to it until you make your first dollar. Learn new skills and strategies as you work. I repeat...do NOT try to figure out everything before taking action.
    3. If you want to make money right away, offer services. You said in your post that you don't have any money to invest in anything. From your writing here, it looks like you are a decent writer. You can offer writing services to make money, and then you can turn around and use that money to pay for the tools you will need to succeed. Since you are not 18, you will need to get your parent's help to setup a Paypal account and bank account tied to your Paypal account.
    4. Don't start wasting money on lots of courses. I would only invest in a couple courses at the most. Learn everything in these courses, and implement the strategies discussed in these courses.
    5. Since you are young, I would focus on passive income. You have a huge advantage that most of us don't have here. You don't have kids to feed or a spouse to support. You don't have a mortgage to pay or anything else. For this reason, I would spend time focusing on passive income streams first. You want to build a business where you can do the work one time and get paid over and over again. The service business is great for getting money fast for the tools you will need, but passive income is much better over the long run.
    6. You control the business. Don't let your business control you. At 15 years old, you have the whole world in front of you. Make sure you still spend time hanging out with friends and girls. LOL
    7. Be social and don't be afraid to ask questions. We have all been where you are now. Get to know people here in the forum.

    Welcome to the WF, David!

You have everything you need right here, so save your money until you've gotten past the initial learning curve and know what niche you want to get into, etc., then you'll be ready to register your domain name and get web hosting. (People ususally rush into this and waste the first month trying to figure out which end is up.) I assume you're out of school for the summer and will have plenty of time, so this phase may only take a few days to a week where normally, during the school year, you'd need closer to a month or even longer.

Could I suggest a few quick goals? First, you can be online and actually earning money by the time school starts min- or late-August. From then until the end of the year you won't have as much time to put into as you do this summer, but if you spend the summer wisely you'll have momentum and can easily get to an average of one sale per day, and by next summer you'll be well established and maybe thinking like a full-blown, card-carrying capitalist! Right in the midst of the Presidential election campaign 2012!

You can take this virtually anywhere you want - as long as you want it badly enough, are willing to do the work that's required. For example, if you're headed to college, you can build your online business to pay your tuition, room and board, and still have more walking around money than most of the students on campus! I've already seen graduate students who started late in high school, who did just that and are actually earning more than their professors! A LOT more!

The reality is there are no guarantees, no pixie dust, and you really don't need to buy any expensive "secrets" because 99% of the time they're right here in the forums and completely free.

Learn the basics, think about what you want to do and where you want to be 5, 10 years from now, develop your plan accordingly, and above all ACT on it! You're going to make mistakes and bad decisions, we all do, just don't let that grind you down and steal your dreams.

80% of success is just showing up. Find a way to learn and do a little something each and every day.

From there you will get farther than most people who quit after a month.

I agree with most of what has been said, especially to offer services such as writing (best to use "Warriors For Hire", here on the forum-$20-[beg, borrow, or mow a lawn for it]), for immediate cash, while building passive income streams that will be growing over a few months, and making you at least a moderate passive income by school time.

The main point I want to emphasize is to make a few bucks any way you can, as quickly as you can, and at least get yourself a modest budget of $30-50 per month (one mowing job-or housecleaning, etc).

I strongly disagree with using any form of free hosting (which by definition you have no control over, and is inherently risky), with anything you spend more than an hour working on, when you can get a hosting account with plenty of bandwidth for around $7 a month from Hostgator. You might as well spend the $7 to ensure the well being of all the blogs/sites you launch. You could use it to host dozens of sites, so if you have even one extremely modest winner, you will have a great ROI.

I think you should also join the Warroom asap-for $35 you will have a long term (20 years or so, I think) membership to a massive treasure chest of knowledge, helpful free software, tried and tested business models, and tons of insight on just about every IM sub-niche. Just today, I downloaded a Wordpress plug-in from the Warroom that sells for, I believe, $97 or so to the public. Yesterday I downloaded a cool productivity boosting software (involving to-do lists, and timers with alarms and pause buttons)-also worth way more than my one time membership fee. I long ago lost track of how many times I've downloaded individual ebooks, software, etc, that were worth considerably more than the entire cost of my membership. It's one of the best investments you can make in your IM education, with many opportunities for building a real business with real expert guidance.

Whatever you do, good luck, and if I were you I'd introduce myself to other young people that are closer to your goals (or beyond) than you are-there are a couple well known teenagers and a bunch of early 20-somethings who have done much better than most of their elders-some are teaching people their grandparents' and parents' ages.

They might be a great source of inspiration and guidance, if you think hard about how you can serve them before making demands-like throw them a couple free articles, or offer to proof-read and clean up their content-or any service that you could do to save them time and money-especially time.

    Hello David,

Wow, it's a cool to hear that a person as young as you is interested in online marketing. I think it's best to start with a blog and really think about your theme. What kind of audience do you want to reach out to? I think for your age, topics like Technology and Gadgets would be most appealing. starting with quality content is very important because it is the foundation of strong SEO.

The best way to get your feet wet here is by offering tools to the miners so to speak. Start by offering a great service that most of the IM'ers here are not willing to do. Learn how to make it here and you can kill it else where.Much luck to you man.
