Ideas for Marketing an eBook

I have recently begun Internet Marketing and I have two eBooks that have been completed. One is a free eBook I will be giving away on my website, the other is an eBook I am looking to market.

Unfortunately I am not sure where to start. I know if I want to market this eBook effectively I will have to spend some $$$ and I am willing to do that.

I'm not looking for some secret guide as I know those who have such things are not going to share it (and rightly so). What I am interested in is some principles, ideas or suggestions I could use to market this book effectively.

BTW: the eBook is about how to build a blogs organic and non organic traffic and provides over 100 principles on how to do so.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

There are several ways for you to market this eBook:

    1. Forum posting (link on your signature)
    2. Article marketing (link on your resource box)
    3. Social bookmarking
    4. Social media
    5. PPC, PPV and media buying
    6. Press release marketing (link on your resource box)
    7. Video marketing

You make sure that the sources and categories must be relevant to your eBook to increase value and reputation to customers.

    Good luck!

Yep, these are some of the best ways to drive traffic to your site.

The best advice I can give you is to actually do all of these techniques every day. Do a little every day and be consistent at it. Don't do too much work. Just do a little everyday and be consistent. This is the key because you may not see results right away.

    Just my 2 cents.

The more value you provide, the more reputation you will build & the more easy it will be for you to market your ebook (any product)

If you are thinking about selling your second ebook & just starting out:

You can do so by launching a WSO here on Warrior forum. But again as you are just starting out, you need to give out review copies so that others know the value you are offering with your ebook.

Clickbank launch: you will get affiliates but you will need to have a good sales copy in order to maximize the EPC & attract more & more affiliates.

Selling on your own website: you need to buy or build targeted traffic to get sales. Building traffic to your website is a different thing & the following thread will help you:

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...d-traffic.html

(just realized my above thread ranked 3rd on Google search for term "I want traffic" so make sure you utilize forums as well)

Whatever you do, I wish you great success.

    Cheers
    Ciel!

Apply the basic rules of marketing:

Delivering the right message, to the right people, using the right media.

Figure out where your target market is hanging out (the ideas already provided are a great start), and give them a kick-ass sales message with an offer to good to refuse.

You mentioned a free e-book, too, but I'm not sure what it's about. If it's relevant at all to your paid book, maybe you could use it as an incentive to get people to sign up to your email list. Then market your main book to your list.

The other ebook is about tips on saving money. It really does not have anything to do with online marketing or building website traffic but then again my blog is about saving and making money in general and is targeted to teens and young adults.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Are there any paid resources anyone is aware of that I could purchase that would outline some detailed steps?

Also I was thinking of approaching a couple medium to big time blogs and asking them if they would be willing to do a review and offer a discount to people who purchase from their site. Would this be a good idea?

It's usually a good idea to offer review copies to well-connected people in exchange for a review.

As far as people promoting it to their lists... You'll have to give them a good reason and incentive to consider it (even if you can connect with the right person). They'll want to know what's in it for them, or maybe you could do something to help them in exchange.

As an example, recently I helped out a colleague's client with some gratis newsletter copy. This guy has a huge weekly newsletter, and he thanked me, saying if he could ever help me, to just ask.

So I sent him my book, and he gave it a positive review as a great business resource in his weekly newsletter.

Basically free PR. I helped him - he helped me. It's not something I would have ever felt comfortable asking, but since he owed me, and he offered...

Oh... it sounds like you have a website for your free book, and I assume you have a separate landing page/sales letter site for your paid book?

Thanks a lot for the suggestion.

I will have a page on my website dedicated to the eBook once I get my hosting sorted out (currently switching from GoDaddy to RackSpace). But I want the eBook to not only make me sales but direct traffic back to the website.

I've been doing content writing for 4 years now and I've been published in BBC as well as other well known sites so for me content is not an issue. It is marketing that content that I have yet to do and I'm hoping that with the launch of this book it can help me.

I believe the main answer is right in front of you...blogs!

We have dozens of ebooks on the market across different niches and in all cases our blogs bring in more than half of our traffic, leads and sales.

In terms of next highest is mainly affiliate marketing (but that does take some time to build), traffic from syndicated content (articles, press releases, etc)

I would recommend you do the following:

            1. Setup a blog around each of your ebooks that you will post to each day around keywords that target your respective markets

            2. Have some of the posts link back to your ebooks

            3. Incorporate some video with your blogs (screen cams, quickie tips videos, etc...) that will help syndicate your content in other directions (video directories)

            4. Setup an affiliate program for the ebook you are selling (either Clickbank or manage your own using Ejunkie, 1ShoppingCart, etc...)

            5. Send out review copies to potential JV partners - they will typically want to see what you have before promoting to their lists/markets

            6. Generate content EACH day - submit some articles to EZA, a couple videos each week to YouTube, blog post each day, press release 1 each week....

That should get you rolling with enough traffic to get multiple sales each day (assuming your website is converting - the other side of the marketing story :-)

Another approach that is good for exposure is to check out document sharing sites. There are lots of them where you can upload your free PDF to and if you design it to brand your site or suggest traffic back to your site that can be another angle for you.

All of these methods identified work, but you have to "work them" in order to get the results. So pick some that make sense for you or that you are comfortable with and schedule out your plan of attack and as Nike would say "just do it"...

    :-)
