If You Had To Start From Scratch, What Would You Do?

For the more experienced / money making IM'ers out there:

I'm curious ...

If you to start from scratch TODAY ...

And you had no money ...

... no list ...

... no connections ...

... no nothing ...

What would you do to start making money?

What specific path / strategy would you take?

And why?
#scratch #start

First: I Would Identify a Hungry Buying UnReachable Audience.
Second: Give Away Incredible Value (for free).
THIRD: Position Myself as an Authority in My Market.
FOURTH: Offer High Value Solutions to My Audience.
FIFTH: Have a Strategic Upsell-Downsell Sequence in Place.
SIXTH: Deposit The Money to My Bank.
SEVENTH: Give Back to the World.

2k in 72 hours? thats some selling formula youre working to - especially if youre selling websites which i guess is what youre proposing if your main partner is going to be a web designer?

Well first, I would get me some money, somewhere...

For me, I didn't want to start writing articles for other people, writing content, etc. It's for some people, but it just wasn't for me. What I was always interested in, was creating my own asset, my own website, having my own list, and having my own products.

But to start, I would borrow some money from somebody. At least $100 - $500 to get set up with websites and autoresponders so I can set those up with good niches, then start driving cheap traffic to it, and make affiliate sales until I had my own product.

Borrowing money is a great idea, but not all of us have people we can borrow from if the need comes.

I'd suggest learning a skill, and use it to generate money at first. Writing, designing, data entry (everyone with fingers can do this), or just communication skills to do exactly what John was saying up top. There are a lot of little things you can do like this to generate some cash flow.

Yup, it's definitely a lot more difficult if you don't have money, and no money coming in so you can eat...

Craigslist gigs section, that idea was thrown around somewhere on this forum. Mow lawns for $25-50 a day, use some to eat, then use the rest to learn online marketing, and test out different things.

I would find something free to giveaway to increase opt ins, then start building a list and probably promote click bank products until I had enough income to buy a subscription to a real product with residual that I could promote, or use one of the JV relationships I have built by then to leverage a free account to a subscription product in exchange for emailing my list about it.

Wow this is a great thread - Thanks for asking the question, and to everyone that spent time answering.

I wouldn't say that I'm starting from scratch, but I am trying to get off the ground.

The thing about these types of questions is that the expert already knows that works for their personality - and they know they can succeed because they've done it before.

For the inexperienced, it's a little more difficult since they are still trying to figure out what works with their personality. I'd like to think that I finally discovered what works with my personality, now it's just a matter of being able to focus and analyzing what works with the products that I release to the group.

Firstly, get yourself a "Blue Collar" trade that you could see yourself enjoying, or fall back on one day if things don't work out for you...I don't have a crystal ball! lol...(Be strong in mind and body to be able to adapt to whatever kinda of work is available - if you need to pay the bills in a jiffy). But, even certain trades don't offer the same job security like they used to - so you'll have to do your homework on that one. While maintaining a job if possible and now secondly - learn "Web Design - HTML, XHTML, CSS, and also some JavaScript wouldn't hurt either". Learn "Internet Marketing" and its associated marketing branches such as Article Marketing, Email Marketing, Affiliate Marketing...and more. Learn Social Media Optimization and Search Engine Optimization...and the list goes on...Thirdly, learn "Web Programming" - yes, JavaScript and some PHP with SQL would be even better... And of course try to enjoy the journey along the way and give back and or share your joys with to those who've earned your trust and friendship. I know you can hire people to do some of these things, but you would be wise to get a fundamental understanding of all of so as to decrease the number of bumps in the road along your journey to success! Cheers!

    Do the following:

    Join the Warrior Forum. (Done)

Take a few days to look at the various threads.

Take a physical note of the problems people keep coming across and are posting about.

Do some research for a few days, noting down all the possible solutions to said problems.

Create a report on the biggest and mostly frequently talked about problem.

Post it as a WSO. If you want to make cash then make it a paid one for a small investment, perhaps $10 or less. This well build capital for your next venture.

Or alternatively, post it as a free WSO and use it to build your list. Then promote affiliate offers to that list.

    Watch money roll in.

    Rinse and repeat!

    All the best

Honestly, after working with and coaching a lot of newbies as well as providing services to them, etc... I have to honestly say it's not so much a matter of WHAT you do but that you actually DO it.

And it is NOT about having capital or start up money. We have had numerous cases where a client had money to throw at a project and even prepaid 3 months worth of services yet folded up the entire operation before the work was even complete. Having money in the beginning is usually WORSE. Starting from nothing (like I did and many other successful marketers online have) forces you to be efficient and find what works. It also forces you to work very hard - both are good qualities to develop.

There are 100's of very solid and reliable ways to make money online. It's not so much about the "how", it's really about having the desire and the heart to just make it happen. And from my experience most people are very happy to make $2500 a month - a goal that can be readily achieved with steady work and a well thought-out (and executed) plan from the beginning.

Something about IM that brings out the "dreamers" and the fact is IM is just like any other business, it takes hard work, devotion and a ton of action and most people just don't put in the work to get the results.

Sorry, I don't buy the "NO INTERNET CONNECTION" stuff as fun as it might be to roleplay the scenario with creative solutions but if you're really that poor then, honestly, go to a big city and beg for money for one months internet connection and some seed money.

    Anyways, Here's Your Solution.
    1. Go find a hugely successful WSO for an info product,
    2. then research clickbank, etc, to see if there's SOFTWARE related to helping that product's buyer's automate some, if not all, of the processes in the info product.
    3. Have it created either at http://www.fiverr.com or http://www.freelancer.com
    4. then ask the WSO info product owner if they'll affiliate your product to their buyer's list for an 80% cut.
It might not build your list huge, but it is a way to get a quick $400-$500 in your pocket in 7-10 days... IF YOU HAVE A GOOD WORK ETHIC, that is...

    Best wishes,
    Eric

  • Hey there,

This is a tough post because almost all Im'ers need a domain name and hosting. And that is not free so for someone with no money I don't know how to answer that question. The best thing I could say is offer any type of IM skill to other warriors on WF in the Warrior For Hire section. If you had $20 dollars I could answer that question.

So if a person had $20 dollars they should buy a domain name and hosting.

Find instant commission affiliate products to promote through your website by posting on forums and leaving your Signature Link behind.

I would also study the Law of Attraction because if you have nothing, you will have to attract something to get you to where you want to be. It is necessary to know how the universe operates in order to bring things and situations into your life.

Out of no way, a way will be made.

    Peace and Love,

  • This is what I posted in another similar thread:

    Best system for a newbies:

    1) Pick a niche you like and you are familiar with (Important!)
    2) Create a squeeze page
    3) Queue up 4 emails providing 4 pieces of SOLID content
    4) On email 5 offer a SOLID product and the reasons you think your subscribers will benefit from it
    5) From email 6 onward alternate solid content with product promotion
    6) Drive traffic to squeeze page, paying for solo ads to small list owners in your niche.
    7) Track your metrics and keep on paying for traffic below your breakeven line

Here are the steps I would (and actually did) take...

    1. Choose a niche that has buyers in it. Take a look around some best selling wsos to see what topics seem to sell BEST.

    2. Become an instant authority in that niche by doing several interviews (try searching google for a free bridge line and recording service).

    3. Create a product from several recordings and sell as a wso (that will set you back $40)

    4. Make sure your interviewees promote the product for initial momentum.

    5. also, a great way to become a local maven would be to get a regular column in your local newspaper. You'll be surprised just how many newspapers are desperate for good content. There's enough great free stuff here on the wf for you to read and learn about so you can be a real authority.

This would be great for offering services to local businesses.

The first thing that I would do is to identify what I currently have. These are not necessarily in line with internet marketing but those that can help me along the way like the amount of time I can spend, my skills and interests. It would be better to start on something you are good at because it can make things a lot easier. For example, if you love art, why not concentrate on marketing products associated with it? Second, I'll read and read some more. Learning is an endless process which only stops when we die. This is definitely applicable to internet marketing. Every campaign is not only a chance to earn but a venue for developing one's skill as well. I would join forums like this one to learn more and maybe purchase relevant reading materials. Lastly, I would exert enough effort and spend some time for this endeavor. There is no such thing called easy money. There might be IM professionals out there who earns with no sweat but they worked hard for it especially when they were just beginners.

Collect random money from the streets.. Build up 100 pennies. Buy something at 10 pennies each and sell for 20 pennies.

Build a good enough money to deposit in my bank (500 pennies)
    Transfer to paypal.
Buy online items at a cheap price (50c each)
    Sell on ebay for $1
Continue this until i can buy and sell more expensive items.
    Increase profit margin.

Personally, my approach has worked pretty well.

Get a ton of credit and prepare for bankruptcy :p

In seriousness, I am fortunate enough to have a skill / talent that people will pay money for so I hire myself out as a freelance writer. I advertise here on the WF as opposed to bidding sites and make a decent income.

Build the client base over the course of a few months, find regular work and manage your time so you aren't working ALL the time. Spend the rest of the time looking for passive income. Clickbank promotion is a relatively simple one, once all is said and done... others may argue.

Then gradually replicate your efforts until the passive income can support you fully.

    Then do a happy dance

But for the most part you need to bring in some capital to begin with and the single fastest method I know of is to hire yourself out for a fee.

    Also... learn copy writing
