If it is really good quality and unique - it is a very good deal.

If it's just some rehashed garbage - it is too much

I would say it is a very good deal if it conforms with your niche and provides the information you requested. 500 words is a good size article and most people have trouble creating this for themselves.

Also consider that with a article spinner, you can spin that article into several other articles and if you have the ability to add just a little more content on your own, you can have a number of unique articles to use.

Now you see your cost per article would be pennies. Payng for good content is fine and using it to your advantage is even better. You just want to make sure the articles meet your needs. Personally, I do not believe I would write a good 500 word article for $2.50. But I will not say never.

Agreed. It all depends on the quality of the article.

If the quality is good, then, it's a bad deal... for the writer. For the niches I am in, I would take that offer in an instant. It would take me about a few hours to break even.

    • I'd pay more than that for a writer who uses her brain rather than putting down a bunch of words in a row.

A smart freelancer is not only going to incorporate the keyword(s) you specified but come up with additional ones you might not have thought of. Since keywords drive free organic traffic, it seems foolish to cheap out.

It's a good price but I wouldn't be surprised if the quality is horrendous. The only way I'd write for that price is if I was living in a country with an extremely low cost of living or if I was doing a big discount to get my name out.

You usually get what you pay for. A 500 word article for $2.5 -should- be littered with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. If it's not, then you're getting a great deal.

Cool Life - I am a writer and you won't even hear under $15.00 for 500 words out of my mouth - and that's for friends and only if the article doesn't take a lot of research. Try buying an article from Tina or Alexa for $15. I can't speak for them, of course, but I'd hedge one real strong bet that they may or may not write for a favor for someone for 15 under the same circumstances.

If you are looking at $2.5 an article - you don't even want to KNOW what professionals charge.

I'd feel bad paying only $2.50 an article if the quality was good, no matter where in the world the writer was from. The writers I have at the moment charge $10-$15 per article, and I get really good articles for that price (which I consider excellent value).

You should see my prices too, and I'm not even accepting any new clients. For a long time, I've only worked for a core base of clients and a few friends occasionally, when I have the time.

But to get back on subject... Are you sure this guy is good and produces high quality, unique work, free from spelling errors and grammatical mistakes? Have you run his articles through Copyscape?

Yeah if the quality is bad then it's a bad deal. Fortunately you can just buy an article or two and check out the quality without any real risk to see.

that's really good deal, even if the articles are full with grammatical mistakes, you can spend like 5-10 minutes to fix them and you are ready to go.

When it comes to writing, you get what you pay for! I can almost guarantee that the quality of the article(s) will be terrible at $0.005 cents per word.

With that being said, you can sometimes find a great writer who simply needs to build their reputation a bit. When that happens, take advantage and buy as much as you can afford.

    I wouldn't even auto-spin for $2.50

Spirtx...then why buy in the first place? Buying a "cheap" article and then manually fixing them is absurd, IMO.

I would put that deal under the "too good to be true" category. A price like that would make me very suspicious.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you want valuable content that will keep visitors coming back, content that is good enough that they'll share it on their FBs and Twitter accounts then you're not going to find it that cheap.

If you're looking for space filling material then I guess it's a good price but posting stuff like that can hurt your rankings.

It's a great deal. We don't generally get the best content for under $5.00 per article. We generally use that content for secondary pages or for filler elsewhere, but not as our primary articles for the sites.

If it's a good article then it's a great deal, usually, great articles cost about $4 per 500 word article unless you purchase bulk. Recently my friend has purchased a 500 word article from a random copywriter for $2.50 and the quality wasn't too good. So I'm sticking with the copywriters I trust.

Once again, it's a great deal if the article is written well.

If you got your expected quality out of it, then it's definitely a good deal. You can find writers who work for lesser than that at bidding sites.

You say the quality is good... I would make sure to run them through copyscape. If they are unique and quality articles that writer probably doesn't realize how much they could be making. Then again, they could just be foreign and not realize how good their English skills are as well.

Conclusion: if it's well written, original, and fluent, you're getting a good deal and shouldn't be worried. You can't get that for much less.

Look at it hourly. It took him maybe 30mins to write that if he's experienced. You paid him $5/hr for something that might've taken you an hour to write.

Well, good is subjective, however if you're happy with what you're getting, go with it.

I've maintained this all the time -- You get what you pay for. As someone else said, its a bad deal for the writer and if he's actually good, he won't continue writing for the same compensation for long. Writing articles, specifically SEO/review articles, is a excruciating job, for anyone. At that rate, I'd not touch my keyboard. :-)

However, if your purpose is different, and you see it being served, it's fine. There are obviously much better writers who can write much better articles where you'll get niche expertise and extremely good research. Those articles typically give a better return, too. If you're going to put them on affiliate sites, or backlinks where no human is going to read them, its a different story.
