  • The main thing you will need is and EDL (Edit Decision List) This has all the timecodes of the sections you want in the final edit. Then with this EDL you can add in extra timecodes for the effects, fades and extra materials you want adding in.
    Something like this:

    Start 15 frame fadeup
    In: 00:00:01:15 (Hours:Minutes:Seconds:Frames)
    Out: 00:15:45:13
    In: 00:35:12:12
Blur over writing at top 00:36:15:08 - 00:37:20:13
    Out: 00:42:32:10
    End 15 frame Fade Down

Something like that in more of an alligned format will be fine for most editors. The timecode references are to your main source material so you will need to go through it and decide what you want to keep and what to throw out.

    Hope that helps you.
Have a great day and feel free to get in touch if you want more clarification...

Also a lot of kids and college students are adept with editing video and most of the ones I've met tend to work dead end jobs (if they are lucky enough to have a job) so would do some video work for a low price if it's something they are passionate about.

Also if you have kids of your own a lot of them would rather do that then go work at McDonalds

I just hired two video editors to fill positions at my company locally. One is a producer/editor and the other is a cross over web programmer/graphic designer/video editor.

You would be amazed at the amount of hungry talent looking for work. I had dozens of resumes and reels in response to my craigslist ad. Applicants ranged from no formal training all the way up to MBA...

All competing for a $12-$20 hr job.

I ended up hiring one guy right out of college for below my bottom rate and another at $16 an hour because he has lots of graphic design and web coding experience.

During my interview process I created a killer rolodex of professional producers some who offer end to end HD production solutions.

We are also working on putting together an end to end solution for local marketers to outsource their video production. The goal being to give people an option to obtain real quality production from professional video producers with training and experience.

As for outsourcing to the Philippines...

You are going to be hard pressed if you expect professional results. Can you do it sure... but not at a professional level like you describe.

Think of it this way... there are young people with talent some with college degrees and experience willing to work for $8-$15 an hour editing video.

If you can outsource for $5/hr and get mediocre results or pay $10/hr hiring off craigs list and get quality results from a local talent you can work with face to face and guide and get rolling with less training which would you choose?
