How Can I Find Common Mispellings?

Where can I go to find common misspellings of a word that appears in my domain name? Are there any websites or keyword tools that will allow me to do this?

My own highly scientific method for finding common misspellings of a word is to drink around six beers, then I type the word lots of times. Very rarely do I spell the word the same way twice...

You could start by looking at your headline.

      See if this helps...

Go to the MSN Adlabs site and under Tools look for a keyword tool called Keyword Mututation Detection

      The site states:
"This tool displays common misspellings or alternative spellings of the user's input keywords that are frequently found in search query logs."

      Hope this is helps

(Sorry I can't post the URL, I don't have enough post yet)

SEOChat.com has a very nice tool called the "Domain Typo Generator" which you enter your domain or a domain that you would like to find typos of and then it will generate a list of typo domains. At any given time also the generator will give you a list of 20+ typo domains. I have not enough posts to post the link directly to the generator so go with instinct on the domain.

I use the Google Adwords tool and then scroll down the list of suggestions. There are some mistakes that are used thousands of times per month!

In general, you can use your head -
      • If a word has "ie," for example, you can be sure that "ei" is used. (i.e. "achieve" and "acheive")
      • If a word has "ea," try "ae."
      • Check out lists of commonly misspelled words (available online).
Personally, I think the beer-drinking method mentioned earlier is probably a good barometer.

You can also locate eight or ten 7 year olds and ask them to spell your domain name.
