An amazing person claims in paypal for 36 cents -> What must I do??

Hey guys..

I have been having some issues with a jackass lately..

See the screenshot for urself..

2011-06-07_1544 - Aravindh123's library

He opened a dispute and escalated it to a claim for 36 CENTS!!!

The problem is, I really wanted to Refund him with a F*** Off message but I couldn't because my country does not allow transactions less than a dollar even when its a refund.

So..this idiot has escalated it to a claim..what am I supposed to do now??

I even sent him 1 dollar but he is NOT closing the claim.

I have decided to take him on in the claim but don't know what are the proofs needed to be submitted as I have NEVER gone thru a claim before.

Can you guys advise?

Thanks!

Yes, give a $1, $10, a $100, just make him go away. Quit wasting your time and act like a business owner.

I wouldn't even begin the thought process of taking anyone on for $0.36. As high horsepower says, give him the dollar and forget it.

It's a complete waste of your time that could be much better spent elsewhere.

If you have made the offer and sent him a dollar i certainly would not lose sleep over it,you are making a offer that is higher than his claim i think Paypal will see that as making amends and trying to resolve the issue.I think they will end up closing the claim as resolved.

Dont get stressed over it as Paypal will get it sorted out after a certain time duration i think its 30 days to try and sort it out between you then they step it and make a decision as you have offered the money back that is a higher value than the claim was for the case will be closed quickly.

We get messages from people who signed up for a $1 trial saying - "my husband/wife signed up for this without me knowing, and now we cannot afford to buy food for our family. Please refund my dollar..."

    Unbelievable, but true...

You've given him the $1... I presume through Paypal itself? So they know you've paid him back...

So if he's not closing the claim just respond to Paypal telling them you've paid him the dollar and he hasn't closed the case. They will know you're telling the truth and close it. Problem solved.

With regards to sending him a nasty message. It's pointless. Just let Paypal close it and move on.

Really enjoyed the thread.Especially this ^ But this is true somewhere, people even below par at some places.

The conclusion is don't sell anything less than one dollar.

You paid him more then the claim.

Two, paypal would not grant him the claim regardless because I'm sure it is a digital product.

    Just move on.

I realize you want to "tell him off" - stop! You are not dealing with a reasonable buyer here. Stay out of it and let Paypal handle the rest of it.

Don't let an idiot push you into a frenzy of activity. Be businesslike and calm in communication with paypal so YOU look like the sane person in the room.

Hope PP doesnt screw me up..!
That is the wrong attitude to have. Paypal has done nothing to you - this is a buyer problem and paypal is following its own procedures.

You can respond that is has been already refunded and then link the Paypal transaction where you sent him $1.

I've had it happen with ebay .50 cent purchases in the past - refund $1, tell paypal you refunded it already, they will sort it out. I wouldn't sweat it.

Well you sent him a dollar. That is your proof of refund. Explain that you cannot refund less than a dollar so you sent the dollar. Submit that info in the claim. What a jerk. lol. .36 cents.

Do not under any circumstances send him the money advertising it as a refund, legally that opens you up to liability even if it is justa $0.36 transaction if you admit to wrongdoing, he could get you for much much more depending on the nature of the tranasaction.

In the claim provide paypal with all relevant information to the transaction sending as much proof as possible without doing too much work (you do value your time right....time is $$)

      TOTAL HOGWASH!

It's attitudes like that that make life more stressful than it should be.

p.s. if that were true, J.C.Penny has more troubles coming their way.

I would simply send him another $1 - Take screen shots of everything and submit it to the claims process.

Show Paypal that you are doing and have done the right thing as a Business Owner.

I can see it now in court. "This guy refunded my 36 cents which implies guilt, I'm now pressing for a full $2, including court costs".

Hostwind, I sure wouldn't want to be you if you ever get a Paypal dispute.

Sure, the economy's bad but 36 cents doesn't even buy 1/10 of a gallon of gas where I live. I can always buy two packs of Ramen noodles with 36 cents but why on earth would anybody ever accept a Paypal transfer of 36 cents??? Definitely not a Warrior elite

If there's any doubt Paypal is going to limit the OP's account, raise your hand... So we'll be seeing another "Paypal limited my account" thread shortly.

        OMG, sounds so Digital Point-ish...

My pub sells boxes of matches for 25p, I'd have to go without for that much.

On one hand it would be easiest to just give him the $1 and be done with it. On the other hand, my thinking is this... If he wants to be a jerk about 36 cents, fine, fight back and drag it out for as long as you can and have some fun with it.

I have to ask though, what in the world are you selling for 36 cents?

I did give him $1...and he is not happy with it!

He is still holding the claim.

It's actually not a big deal. It may seem annoying, but the fact is that if you just ignore it, the most PayPal will do is take the 36 cent refund from your account and close the dispute. If you want, you can simply respond to the dispute and tell PayPal that you offered a dollar and he refused. They'll close it on their own after a while.

Let it go. The situation is stealing your energy. PayPal will eventually review the claim, see that you've issued a refund and they'll close it out. Forget about waiting for an unreasonable person to suddenly become reasonalbe.
