I seen the if your desperate thread but most of the suggestions has to do with paypal, i need advice

Hi right now I'm broke because of paypal, they froze my account because of an account that is not mine that has a negative balance that the linked to mine somehow, they said that the other account social security number doesn't match with mine and i would need that person to verify , which i don't know who account it is.

I'm thinking it's my father because he has the same name as me except i am the III but he is not in my life and i have no contact with him. i have sent them all the info for my account but they still saying they cant unlock my account until the other account owner verifies there social security number. so i'm basically **** out of luck with paypal .

I have ask some people what i should do to make some money online if im broke and they forward me to the "if your desperate thread" but most of those ideas there has something to do with getting paid by paypal. i have also been trying to get a job but i haven't had any luck with that either.

I'm making this thread to get some advice from you guys on how can i make some money without any investment and without paypal. I'm willing to put in as much time as possible. any recommendations and suggestions will be very appreciated. Also i know that CPA and Clickbank pays by check and that would be good for me, but i just don't know where to start with them. Like i don't know any methods or any good legit guides to start with. If you guys know any please let me know.

Sorry for the long story and stuff but i'm really desperate right now from this situation...

I had a similar issue. My Paypal got locked because they said an account with my name and social security number was negative. The only way to get it opened was to open an identity theft claim. I didn't want to, because I assume my mother opened the account, but it was the only way.

Honestly, without Paypal it will be harder to do IM, though not impossible. I know many people use AlertPay as well.

Try oDesk. They pay out in a lot of differing methods.

Thanks for the response, i already got a claim out. they still said i have to get the person to verify it, im like WTF is wrong with paypal.

I will definitely check out oDesk. i may try to get my writing good and start doing article writing. what other services do you think are good and profitable to try on oDesk?

Honestly, I only use oDesk for hiring since I get a good number of clients from WF. I hire VAs and SEO helpers from there normally but I hear a lot of people also hire writers. Just be sure to make your portfolio and profile look amazing because there can be a lot of competition.

I would set-up a company name with a tax id number and use that in paypal. Will cost a few hundred to do but you won't be left not being able to use paypal ever again.

When it comes to PayPal, things tend to "happen" when you CALL them directly, they do have a toll-free number. Ask to speak with a supervisor/manager before saying anything. If they want your account e-mail, give it to them but don't give out any other info. Regular reps have very little power, managers get things done. Sound a bit edgy, that puts them on "nerve mode", they don't like to be on the receiving end of an argument. Explain them what is going on. CONTROL THE CALL!! If you have money in the account, they cannot withhold the funds against you.

    Here's a few tips:

#1- Say you have no idea how this happened and you are being a victim of fraud and your ability to pay and get paid is being hindered by this and you want a throrough investigation. The real, real F word, FRAUD

#2- Say you never had any problems. Give them your SIN # and say it's the only number to be associated with the account (your email).

#3- Tell them you business relies heavily on PayPal and have been 110% satisfied until this date but they are now hindering your ability to conduct business as usual and if this keeps up, you will be left no choice but to speak with authorities.

#4- Let them know that you are taping the call. It's your right to do so.

How do I know all this? Worked in contact centers for a long time and have had issues with PayPal in the past, put the two together, you get an effective strategy to deal with customer service. Last issue was over a year ago

    Hope this helps

An alternative to Paypal is Google Checkout. They have single item payment buttons and return to merchant after payment so they can download a product.

I don't believe the IRS charges to issue a business tax ID number (EIN). Just go to the irs.gov site and click the tab for business.
For the application you fill in on-line, you can be a sole proprietor or use a business name (create your own business name).
I have a PayPal business account, but PayPal sends funds to my personal bank account.

There are sites that will "assist" you in getting the EIN but they charge a fee. Be sure to use the irs.gov site.

  • Hey I would recommend that you start promoting affiliate products. You can find instant commission products to market and you can get paid through someone other than Paypal too. There are several really good payment processors. One is 2checkout.com. But joining Clickbank to promote other people's products is free and they have lots of good products. Also if you have any services you can offer I would put an ad out in warriors for hire. If you already have a domain name and hosting being an affiliate would be a great way to get paid without an investment.

    Peace and Love,

If you think it might be your father or another relative you need to pursue this to solve it.

One of the weakest parts of credit (that many don't kow about) is that relatives with 'jr", "III" etc can have serious credit problems due to the finances of the other person with the name. Almost always this isn't someone who just happens to have the same name - but is related to you in some way. Father/son with the same names are commonly mixed up. Not a problem for many people - unless one has bad credit and the other doesn't.

You need push (politely but firmly) for PAYPAL to require the other person to verify his ssn and identity. You have no way to verify anything except your own information. If he has a paypal account PP may be doing that but may need to be prodded to get it done. Offer to provide any proof needed that YOU are who you say you are - that YOUR social security number is correct on your account, etc. If you don't know who the other person is - don't provide speculation to paypal about who it might be.

Also, check your credit report to see if there are any other areas where this has happened that you might not know about.

Thanks for the awesome advice. Trust me i already did most of what your saying, paypal still said the same thing. but i know it has to be my father for sure, i searched the email address of the other account and i seen his myspace page ( i seen his name and pic) which is his old page and come to find out that the other account has an old address of his. I did some searching and found out that, the last address he had, he doesn't even live there anymore...

Are you good at cold-calling? If you are good at website design or SEO, Now might be a good time to put a quick portfolio cold call few local businesses and offer your services. Maybe they can use a mobile website, or perhaps they don't have one and you can build them a quick website. This way you walk out with a check anywhere from $200-500
