Arg can someone help me with dl Guard...

I have been getting this all day. I must be doing something stupid. I can't seem to figure it out and their support is closed today. If I am doing something obviously wrong here, could someone please point it out to me and make my day?

Thanks
Below are all of the relevant (as far as I know) set up screens

My error after I pay and click the download link in Paypal.

All of my relevant (as far as I can tell) setting can be viewed here;

Paypal settings on sandbox seller account

DLDuard settings..

Someone please help before I pull my hair out.

That is what I am using on my sales page to initiate the process,
    it is from the get code on DLGuard;

    <a href="http://extra-cash-4u.com/dlg/sell.php?prodData=pp%2C1%2C1"><IMG SRC="http://extra-cash-4u.com/dlg/displaybutton.php?p=1" BORDER="0"></a>

that part of it works fine. Unless I am not understanding how it's supposed to work.

The links (get code) take me to paypal to process the payment. The problem comes in after I have paid and try to click the download bar in paypal.

After this screen I get the error..

It is, if you look up at the picture in my initial post I have included a pic. I was hoping that was it but no dice. I fixed that hours ago.

      It is aggravating....

In my honest opinion you are wasting your time with DL Guard. I had set up a e-commerce type site that was selling e-books and audio using DL Guard and at first it was nothing but complicated installing. From then on when I went to add my products etc it was nothing but problems. We still have problems here and there with the links saying they could not be found when the links have not changed in over 3 months. Move on there are better resources than DL Guard.

Is this a joke or what? It's about the easiest script to install, considering it comes with an installer, so you don't have to manually edit config files as you do for most scripts.

Adding products couldn't be any easier- have you tried reading the directions? Any problems I've had were related to lack of doing that.

Did you post any of those problems in their forum?

I did post it there also.

It was the sandbox that was the problem. The setup was simple enough and yes I read the instructions over and over.

Hard to find a problem that is not there.

They really should not have a sandbox option at all (or at least a warning) if it does not work reliably. That is my only beef whatsoever.

FAN...TASTIC! Glad you got it sorted, Christian.

I know exactly how you're feeling. I spent 2 days on the problem I had with the Sandbox. Talk about frustration. And what a freakin' waste of time!

I guess the reason Sam doesn't eliminate that option is because as I said, some users seem able to make it work. In the end, it's really PayPal's problem. But I agree. He should have a warning or eliminate it.

I don't have my website uploaded to my host yet, but the download files are on the host where they belong. I can run my sales page locally and it works until I get that error. I can't see how that would be the issue but I suppose it could be. I'm not quite ready to put it up yet.
    I'm at a loss.

Yes, that's the problem. You can't run DLG locally.

DLG posts data to Paypal, part of which is a return URL which will need to be a location that can be found online. That's so Paypal can return payment information to DLG where it can be further processed.
DL Guard IS installed and configured on my host. I'm NOT running it locally. I am running my sales page containing the code from DL Guard locally.

        Hi Christian,

Have you tried running a test without the PayPal Sandbox?

When I tried the Sandbox, I spent hours trying to get it to work with DLG but never did and finally gave up. Sam at DLG told me that there are always problems with the PayPal Sandbox - some people over there don't even know what the Sandbox means. They told ME that you cannot purchase your own product through the Sandbox.

You can run a test by opening a second PayPal account - many DLG users here do that - so they can test directly, rather than messing with the PayPal Sandbox.

You will need to insert a payment option that is not in your regular PayPal account though. And that's the problem I had. I only have 2 payment options and my main account needs both of them.

What I ended up doing was setting the product price at .01 cent and then asking a warrior to run the test for me. If you have a few friends here, you're better asking them, but for just one purchase, you're not going to worry about giving away one copy, are you?

Just remember to go back into your DLG product list and set the price back to normal when you're done.

If you've managed to get the Sandbox to work in the past, perhaps you were just lucky. Some Warriors seem to be able to get it to work, but in the long run, it's not worth the waste of time.

        Hope this helps.

        Sylvia

I am going to give that a shot. I think I have eliminated any other possibilities.

I have multiple paypal accounts, I should have thought of that earlier.

Thanks for all of the help.

No its not, it works actually. You log in to developer central/sandbox and create two TEST ACCOUNTS.

(Careful copy/pasting the test accounts names since on paypal they're weird...if you copy/paste the test account names to use them later they have spaces in it..check the names EXACTLY so they dont have spaces)

So: You create two test accounts on paypal sandbox, one for buyer and one for seller.

In your DLG you check "sandbox mode on" and enter the TEST SELLER ACCOUNT as merchant.

(What you do is basically use a test buyer account on sandbox connecting to a test SELLER account. Also..once the test accounts are set up, on PayPal sandbox you can simulate to transfer a amount of money to the TEST buyer account from his "fake" bank so the test buyer actually has money on his account)

Then you purchase the product via DLG (which will go through sandbox since you checked "sandbox mode on") with the TEST BUYER ACCOUNT.

      It does work.

PayPal Sandbox (SB) is easy to use, IF you have it set up right. You have to use TWO SB accounts for it to work in testing. One Seller and one Buyer and you also can't use your Live PayPal email address for SB. You have to use a different one.

I would be lost without being able to use SB for testing PayPal scripts (I do beta testing for developers) and Sam made a great choice in including it.

    It does work.

    Thanks,

    John

      Thanks, John.

Perhaps that's the key. I did have 2 accounts set up (buyer/seller) but it still wouldn't work. Can't remember now if one of those accounts was my normal email. I know I ended up creating 5 different accounts and none worked.

There was some sort of issue with PayPal's automation that no one over there could help me with.

I set up each account and entered a new email address for each one, which the system acknowledged that the account had been set up successfully. When I went into the actual accounts, the email I had entered now contained extra elements within my actual email address. They kept telling me I had to do something in my profile and other things. No one over there seemed able to even see the error I was reporting.

Needless to say, it never got resolved. I have no idea why the email address I entered kept getting changed by the system, but by doing that it made those new accounts useless.

      I gave up!

Yes I think you are right, anyway I am a happy camper at this point. That was my last hill to climb. I could have my first site up tomorrow if I can find the time.

I did all of that and it did not work for me. I understand you need two accounts, a seller and buyer account and can not use the same e-mail as your primary paypal account. I did copy and paste the user names it created for me.
I spent 5 hours going over and over it.

I could have done something wrong, but I can't see what? At this point I don't care I'll never go through that again. 1 cent is not much to spend to avoid all of the confusion.

what was the problem? My problem was that i tried the accounts for hours, the accounts look something like

    blaha_1244_1212_per@domain.com

And its VERY hard to see that the email actually had a space " " in it (from directly copying it from the paypal site)... check the used names EXACTLY and delete the space..maybe thats the problem? Otherwise it will never work since the name is not right.

I don't know, I never solved it. It's working now and I am not going to waste any more time trying to figure it out with the sandbox...

    Hi Ramphix,

I just dug up your old support ticket to see what the problem was:

It seems your firewall software running on your computer was blocking the installer for DLGuard.

You posted on the forum about this, and I invited you to open a support ticket so I can install DLGuard for you.

Here's the forum post, if you're interested:

DLGuard Forum :: View topic - Need Installation Help...

I'm not sure if you ended up opening a support ticket about this, as I do these kind of installs for free, for my clients often.

When you said DLGuard was hard to install, you forgot to mention that the problem was actually with different software that you were running on your computer, and that the owner of DLGuard quickly and happily offered to install DLGuard for you.

I'm just as happy to sort out any other issues you may have.

    cheers
