How does reseller hosting work?

Hi Warriors,

How does a reseller hosting work ?

Would hostgator handle tech issues?

Can I choose my own prices for each month?

What would be the cons if any ?

Depends on the host. That host has a sales department specially trained to answer your pre-sales questions about exactly how THEIR reseller hosting works. You should contact them.

With most if not all you set your own prices to sell hosting.

Most require you to handle your own technical support.

Most reseller hosting works like this:
You rent a portion of the server from the provider. They provide you with
management tools and the hardware resources.
In turn, you sell it to your customers. You handle the tech/client support for your clients, but if the problem is on the provider's side you raise the issue at them. Basically, you are a relay between your customers and your provider.
From what I know, the minimal duration of a reseller hosting plan is one year, and you pay the same fee each month (just like a regular hosting account) I am not absolutely sure though that all plans are like this.
Reseller hosting is a good idea if you have a few clients you can count on. Otherwise, you may end up paying in advance for a year without being able to get any income from it.
    Good luck!

Each host is different, with all of them though you rent a space on their servers for a fee, which then you place a mark up above that for yourself. With regards to the technical issues and so on you would have to see what hosting service provides support or not.
