Hey guys,

I have a list that I have been giving free stuff to for a while. They are happy and they have gotten great results with what I have been giving them so far.

Now, I am about to launch my product and I was wondering... Should I say I am about to sell something during the pre-launch phase? (In the pre-launch email messages that is...)

Or should I just wait until they read the salesletter for them to notice they will need to pay for it?

I want to do this correctly, and I am afraid I might scare them away before they even get to see what I am about to offer...

What are your thoughts on this? What have you done before with your own products? What have been your results?

I will appreciate your responses very much!

One tactic: Create an atmosphere of suspense by announcing "Something special is coming up, stay tuned, don't miss it"

I always go for the transparent approach - something like: "If you liked xxx free report, then you really want to check out xxx, my new creation. I've put a lot of work into making it a great thing that's going to help you way more...... Read all about it here...

Every one on your list should know that at some point you're going to market to them. But flatly stating that they will have to start paying when everything has been free so far will likely put some of them off.

What is your price point? If it is over, say one hundred dollars, you should offer some less costly products before your launch to get them used to buying from you.

Start with a five to ten dollar offer to get them used to reaching for their wallets when you have something to offer.

Talk about the value and build up to the price... perhaps with a free hour long training, then add that they can learn all your secrets on the "inside" of your course. This is the time to talk about the limited bonuses for fast action takers, then announce your price.

And bring up scarcity... "There are only 8 spots available..."

I would try and create a bit of curiosity with your approach and try and combine some of the tactics of some of the above two posts, I.e something big is about to happen or come up ................ then go on to say in another email ive been working on this for a while and if you loved ..... you will love this, that kind of thing.

The whole point of a list is to monetize it and i think people who are on their will expect it from you to sell something

      Frankie,

I normally carry out a 7 day presell to my list.

Once you have grabbed their attention and told them about the unbelievable benefits of your product, just add a bit of proof and they should be in a position to want to buy from you (assuming you have targeted it right in the first place)

People know they are being sold to, they just don't want to be told.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't be honest throughout though.

Good Luck with your sales btw

Do an approach that will catch people's eyes. Benefits and freebies of your product is one evident that they will buy your product.

    my prediction...

Becuase you have trained them to receive freebies when you make your first pitch a big percentage of them will cry spam and/or unsubscribe

Thank you all for your kind replies. Very good tips from all of you.

@ Robert Puddy - Yeah, I am aware of that. But that also puts me in a position where they think "...if this dude's free stuff has given me good results, I can't dare to miss what he's selling!".

I also sent out a broadcast message telling them that they signed up to receive guides, tips and strategies about X, but if they were not happy with the results they have gotten from using them they could unsubscribe right way... then I gave them the unsubscribe link, and only 5 did.

I am very proud of that low number of unsubscribes. And that means I have a very good chance of having a good response from them at launch time.

Wish me luck and thank you all again!

Just tell them exactly what it is bro.

In the words of Dan Kennedy, "Its the offer stupid!" lol

Know what I mean? If your offer is good, people will buy your sh*t.

Its also important to note, that if your ALWAYS giving away free stuff, people get conditioned to that and become less responsive to buying stuff because they are used to it being free.

I would say pitch it without saying what it costs in prelaunch, give value, then BOOM, sales page gets that money!

I would create a nice video explaining the product and showing some results with it. Then remind them why they can trust you as a someone that will give nothing but the best quality and not put anything else in there head.
