Wordpress Membership Theme?

I'm in the process of setting up a new product that will be delivered via a members only section on a Wordpress installation, but I am having trouble finding a theme that consists of just a header area, navigation menu, content area, and perhaps a footer area.

If any you guys have used a members are to deliver your WSO's, which theme did you use? Can anyone suggest a theme similar to what I described above?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I've used the Thesis (paid) theme on a number of Wordpress blogs - including membership sites.

The beauty of Thesis is you can make it look like anything you wish. (very flexible and easy to configure)

Here's where to get it: DIYthemes

Thanks for the suggestion, but I am looking for something that's not going to take me a day to learn before setting it up. I'm more inclined towards free premium themes, but if a paid theme is recommended that is easy to use I will take a serious think about purchasing it.

Personally for me, $87 for a theme that will take me to long to learn is not money well spent. But that's just me, I can be a bit impatient some times.

I am in the process of setting up a new Wordpress site that uses the 'Clean_Simple_White theme by Mazznoer.

You can preview and download it here: http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/clean-simple-white

This is a lovely, simple theme - lots of possibilities. Very basic, easy to set up and use, as well.

    I use and recommend OptimizePress:

Optimize Press | Pro Internet Marketing Tools (no affil.)

It will allow you to create impressive looking membership
    site areas with ease.

What's more, you can also use the theme to create great
looking squeeze pages, launch funnels and sales pages.

That way, you only have to install one theme, learn how
it works and you'll be able to create impressive looking
membership sites and pretty much anything for your
    sales and delivery process.

There's a comprehensive training area with videos for
the theme and their support is first class too.

    Dedicated to mutual success,

    Shaun

You can see it in action on my site at Free Online Video Tutorials - Village Tutorials.com. I added the little image in the header and changed the text color, but the original is very nice as it is without any embellishments. The sidebar is the navigation area, which I am currently using for Amazon products. (I just started the site two days ago, so there's not much content on it yet - but you can check it out to see how I made some basic changes to the original.)
Thanks for the suggestion, but that is just to bland for me.

Thanks Shaun, I have heard many good things about OptimizePress. I will take a look at it and see if I the cost and learning time will be beneficial.

The default theme is just not good enough to use as a members are in my opinion, but thanks all the same.

I'm using Nova by Elegant Themes for a membership site and like the features a lot. $39 gets access to all of the Elegant Themes, including Nova.

In my opinion if you are basing a membership site off of wordpress you should probably just invest in a real membership script site.

Don't worry about the learing curve with OptimizePress. It is super simple to use, especially since you already know wordpress.

If you do have doubts though, the member's area is stuffed with great tutorial videos, and support has always been great and very quick the times I've needed it.

Thanks for that. I'll take a look. I do like some of their themes.

You will still need a theme to go with the script will you not?

Thanks for letting me know. I've heard that with OptimizePress it's only really good on sites that don't have any content yet. You lose the header or it doesn't show up or something if you already have posts/pages. Is that true?

Now that you mention it, I think that you do have to add your header manually to each existing page. This is not tricky to do, but it does take time off course. You will also have to go choose a template for each existing page (OptimizePress has different templates you can use to build pages). Again, this is nothing advanced but it does take time.

        Hope this helps

Give ProfitsTheme a try. It's similar to Optimize Press (and will allow you to globally apply a header).

You can also make squeeze, sales, and blog pages. You can also perform product launches (both traditional and evergreen).

Additionally ProfitsTheme has membership functionality such as protected content, secure download areas, and drip content built in.

I use a combination of Optimize Press and Wishlist member. If you want help on setting the whole thing up, I've created a free ebook about it.

You do have to sign up with my newsletter to get it, but you can always unsubscribe just after you've gotten the download link.

You also get two free wordpress plugins that my developer did for me. One of them is a plugin that lets you serve files through Amazon S3 using a secure link so other people cannot download them.

You can download the whole thing here

Actually the TwentyTen theme (free and pre-installed with WP) will do exactly that. You can use pages with or without the sidebar with a click of the button and adding a custom header is a snap.

There are several themes out there that will do exactly what you want, but the demo sites rarely show the page options available so you can't instantly see if they have no-sidebar templates included. (Some do, but you have to look for the button).

When you get into themes like OptimizePress, you not only get a large variety of page templates included, it also works great for building sales letters with all the "bling".

I would go with optimizepress or profits theme.

PT did a really nice WSO a while back. You can create a membership site without any other script.

1 point though, try to change it up a little, as there are so many PT and OP sites out there that seem rather bland and boring.

You can really use almost any theme, and all will need some kind of tweeks.

That's not to say you can't use some plugins to create something like this. That of course was done with a free theme, and all the membership stuff needed was free as well.

    HI Mike,

I recommend Canvas theme of Woothemes.

Canvas is already one of the most powerful and extensible frameworks on the market for wordpress and it continues to evolve very nicely.

WooThemes Canvas and framework is just great - just like the name implies - it is a blank canvas allowing you to change and design all the elements of the to-be-built website. The built-in theme options are extensive.

    Cheers,

Ok, I will pipe up. On my membership sites I use Optimize Press 2 and Digital Access Pass.

      Option 1
Optimize Press and your favorite membership script

      Option 2
Optimize Press PLUGIN to make your sales and course pages. You can still use any other theme beside it for look and feel.

      Option 3
Genesis - Real strong framework, easier (IMO) than thesis and used by a lot of people.

      Option 4
      320Press built on Bootstrap. Free

      What route would I take?
If I wasn't using OP2 already, I would look at Genesis with a premium them and OP2 plugin with Digital Access Pass. Get all the benefits of both.

      or

Genesis theme on main domain (mywebsite.com) and OP2 on a subdomain (member.mywebsite.com) which again, gives you the best of both worlds. Digital Access Pass all the way though you may not like the learning curve involved. But once you learn it, oh boy is it powerful!

maybe a little off topic, for which I apologise - but if you have the budget, Kajabi is second-to-none IMHO. And I have a lot of the other solutions to hand...

All depends on the level of revenue you hope to get, of course.
