Have You Guys @ Girls Noticed Clickbanks Gravity In E-Business @ E-Marketing Category Has Dropped Drastically?

I have been noticing for some time now a big dip in the gravity of clickbank products in the internet marketing @ make money online niche. Which is basically what the E-Business @ E-Marketing Category is anyway.

What are your thoughts on this? Are more marketers switching over to Rapbank products ( instant commission type products ) or are we hitting another recession? I can remember not too long ago the gravity of a lot of the top sellers being over a 1,000 now I notice the best gravity is a little over 300. Pretty drastic

I think it's a combination of both of my reasons I stated above dipping into a mini recession again and more and more internet marketers are getting their feet wet in the instant commission affiliate networks like Rapbank for example.

What do you think?

  • My opinion is that a lot of the bigger name marketers in the industry are moving to other niches because they are getting sick of the politics within the industry and how it has become somewhat of a pissing contest, Who has the biggest list and bank balance.

Also the industry has been swamped with scammers sending out the same emails 5 times a day therefore making it harder for us legitimate marketers to penetrate the cr*p thats out there.

Sorry for being so cynical but it's just what I see happening in the industry!

      Hi entrepreneurjay,

I think that there are all sorts of reasons combining together, but I think one of the most important is that the market (and internet in general) has matured. What I mean is that big companies that have huge influence (EG Google and those who compete with them such as Facebook) have gained a foothold and have made decisions which have either destroyed or at least made more complex, many of the 'simple' income streams which appealed to a large proportion of the new entrants - the 'one-click wonders.'

Therefore it's a lot harder for shovel sellers to legitimately present products detailing systems to that part of the market, as there are less systems that actually work.

So for CB specifically, this has led to more underhand activities/products in this market which eventually leads to less affiliate promotions.

The difference in sales volumes can actually be pretty small.

In this niche, most of those products with ultra-high gravities have them because of a large number of affiliates each buying one copy themselves through their own affiliate-links. So the difference between a gravity of 1,000 and a gravity of 300 may be only 700 copies, over quite a long period, which is insignificant, really.

In contrast if you look at a best-selling product in a different sort of niche (in which affiliates aren't predominantly "just their own customers") with a gravity of between 5 and 10, with those products a difference of two or three points in the gravity figure may well (and often does) represent many hundreds or even thousands of sales pretty quickly, which is actually far more significant.

In short, appearances can be very deceptive when they're based on gravity figures, because of ...

    (i) the lack of correlation between gravity figures and sales volumes; and ...

(ii) how common it is for products with single-figure gravities to outsell those with high three-figure gravities, for all the reasons explained in this thread and many other similar ones.

As ever, Roger also makes several very good points, just above.

Clickbank threw a lot of the big name "gurus" off, and also changed their rules to such an extent that many others who had not been asked to leave did anyway. They are still selling IM Product, still doing ok - just using other networks.

As a sidenote, and this is only my opinion, but the worse the recession gets, the better IM, MMO and "push button make a fortune" type stuff is going to do.

Gravity is NOT the best indication of a CB listed product's success, especially in the IM niche.

It is a balanced index based mostly on the number of sales made by unique different affiliates in any past 8 weeks or so ...

Therefore, each new IM launch when all the big dogs email their monstrous lists would hyper-inflate the figures.

As a result, once the initial launch period is over, the gravity usually drops steeply with most of these products, the scammy ones even more.

If you're looking at different niches, the same principles apply, only that in some of those niches, there are less people to cross promote and as such, the Gravity is more relevant.

In any case, the MOST relevant gravity is on evergreen type of products, a few months after the launches.

If you see such a product with still a high gravity, that would be a winner.

      Hope this helps?
